Works of important Italian collections, dating from the fifteenth to seventeenth centuries, reflect the most relevant stages of the representation of the art San Francisco. Show includes a virtual tour to the Upper Basilica of Assisi, Italy
A few Catholic saints have much resonance even today as St. Francis of Assisi (Assis, 1182 – 1126). His charismatic effigy, identified with a simple and frugal life, the love of nature, continues to inspire the collective imagination, even centuries after his death.
Now, the first time a major dedicated to religious iconography can be seen, from 5 November, the National Museum of Fine Arts / Ibram / Ministry of Culture, within the exhibition "Saint Francis in the Italian Masters of Art".
This valuable Renaissance and Baroque art collection will present works of masters like tiziano Vecellio, Perugino, Orazio Gentileschi, Guido Reni, Guercino, Carracci and Cigoli. Belonging to the collections of 15 museums 7 Italian cities: Corsini Gallery, Palazzo Barberini, Capitoline Museums, Museo di Roma, Franciscan Museum of the Historical Institute of the Capuchins (Rome); Pinacoteca Civica, Sacristy of the church of San Francesco, Capuchin Convent (Ascoli Piceno); National Museum of Abruzzo (L'Aquila), National Gallery (Perugia); Campana Institute for Lifelong Education (Osimo); civic Museum (Rieti), Pinacoteca Nazionale (Bologna) and Cathedral of Novara (Novara).
With 20 works produced between the fifteenth and seventeenth centuries, the display "in the San Francisco Art Italian Masters" is curated specialist in Art History, Giovanni Morello - who conceived and healed several ancient art exhibitions in Italy, the Vatican and other countries and is part of the Standing Committee on protection of historical and artistic monuments of the Holy See - and Professor Stefano Papetti, diretor from Pinacoteca Civica Di Ascoli, Italy.
Both prepared an exhibition on which to enjoy nothing less than the most important stages of San Francisco representation, through screens that have joined the local culture of an entire era, full of artistic values, historical and symbolic.
For the director of the MNBA, Monica Xexéo, "The exhibition will enable the enjoyment of works of art that have never been before in Brazil, true cultural treasures of mankind, and thus she contributes to the democratization and access to culture ".

In the show "St. Francis in the Italian Masters of Art", stand out the pictures "San Francesco ricevelestimmate" (1570), de Tiziano Vecellio; “St. Francis Supported by unAngelo” (first half of the century. XVII), Orazio Gentileschi; "St. Francis of Assisisi four disciplined" (1499), de Perugino; "St. Francis comforted by an Angel Musician" (1607-1608), Guido Reni, who also painted the Procession Flag "Francesco riceve le Stimmate (front); St. Francis preaching to the brethren (to)” (21st century. XVII); and "St. Francis receiving the stigmata" (1633), Guercino.
Extending an immersive and unique experience, there will be a virtual reality room, that will transport the visitor to the Upper Basilica of Assisi (1228), Italy, with the use of 3D glasses.

You can walk through one of the most important and beautiful basilicas of that country and meet the masterpieces of the Italian painter Giotto (1267-1337), artist symbol of the medieval periods and pre-Renaissance.
After passing the house Fiat (Belo Horizonte), which was inaugurated in August, the exhibition "Art in San Francisco's Italian Masters" will be on display until the MNBA 29 January 2019.
The exhibition "Art in San Francisco of Italian Masters" was conceived by the director of the MNBA, Monica Xexéo, and produced by Base 7.
