Historical
Since 1992, the city of Curitiba has become a centralized pole for art professionals. The geographic proximity to the State of São Paulo and their strong artistic movements caused the Paraná initially delegated their own art movements to a secondary plan. These movements have only been strengthened in the 1950, When the Paraná economy showed a significant growth and put the State as the third largest coffee producer in the country. Allied to this, There was also the celebration of the centenary of the political emancipation of the State.
"During this period there has been a mobilization of the best artists of the Paraná and two large groups of artists-' Cocaco art ' and ' circle of fine arts '- , that were of fundamental importance for the integration of art in Paraná. We can roughly say that it corresponds to the modern art week 22 represents to Sao Paulo ", account the criticism and art teacher recently deceased George Araujo.
