Ema Klabin House Museum opens public notice for the Imaginary Garden Program

Notice gives opportunity to new artists who will be able to exhibit their works in the Garden designed by Burle Marx. Live of presentation of the notice happens one day 22 July

Since 2013, the Ema klabin House Museum promotes the Imaginary Garden Program that takes artistic interventions to the garden of the house museum. Always curated by Gilberto Mariotti, artists such as João Loureiro have already left their marks, Paulo Climachauska, Marcius Galan, Gisela Motta e Leandro Lima.

This year, for the first time, the artist who will create and exhibit his work will be chosen by public notice that will be made available on the Ema Klabin House Museum website. Can participate artists, collectives, groups and stakeholders in general, from anywhere in Brazil, over 18 years. The artistic intervention project presented must be exclusive to the Imaginary Garden Program. Only artistic installations will be accepted and not video projects or performances. The notice will be open for free entries from 20 from July to 20 August on the website emaklabin.org.br. This action is part of the project “Ema Klabin Foundation 2021: house and museum”, sponsored by Klabin SA.

Selection:

The selection will be carried out by a commission composed of a member of the Ema Klabin House Museum and two invited external members. The Jardim Imaginário Program will be curated by Gilberto Mariotti.

The total budget for the execution of the project cannot exceed the amount of thirty thousand reais. The selected will also receive an artistic fee of fifteen thousand reais.

Exhibition:

The recipient will be announced on the day 6 September 2021 on the house museum website. The production and assembly of the work should take place until 3 th November of 2021. The forecast is that the exposure will occur from 6 November to 20 th December 2021.

Dialogue between art, architecture and collection:

The Imaginary Garden Program aims to create a dialogue between contemporary art, the architecture and collection of the Ema Klabin House Museum, through unpublished works whose starting point, both physical and symbolic, be the garden designed by Roberto Burle Marx, in the 50.

Edict presentation live:

The next day 22 th July 2021, from 7pm to 8pm, the Ema Klabin House Museum promotes an open conversation for the presentation of the notice. The curators Paulo de Freitas Costa will participate in the live (Casa Museo Ema Klabin), Gilberto Mariotti (from the Imaginary Garden series) and Thaís Rivitti, who will present the proposal for the new selection format for the Imaginary Garden Program, as well as some parameters for carrying out the work.

2013 – Ant Service, artist João Loureiro – A train with eight wagons circulated around the Ema Klabin Foundation carrying a set of crockery with drawings of ants carrying various objects. The work made reference to the Ema Klabin Foundation's collection of imperial ceramics, with parts and services from Companhia das Índias produced for the Portuguese royal family.

2014 – "Jungle Jungle", by artist Paulo Climachauska. All painted in white made reference to the children's world in order to link the playful world with contemporary art.

2016 "Remote Control", by artists Gisela Motta and Leandro Lima. Thirty wooden birdhouses, arranged in six rows of five houses, forming a housing complex. Inside each house it was possible to observe the lights and sounds of various television programs. (www.youtube.com/watch?v = tiwsjVIcFwU)

2017 "Penetrates", by artist Marcius Galan. Displaced from its role, a spear gate, identical to the main gate of the museum house, was arranged in the garden, inviting the audience to test their perceptions. Interventions were also carried out in other areas of the house museum, such as the main entrance and inside the exhibition space, beyond its surroundings.
