Photographer and environmentalist Mário Barila will be at the 10th Edition of the collective exhibition Fotografia Arte Plural, What happens between 2 March and 20 April, at Icon Arts Galeria, installed in the former Bhering chocolate factory, in the city of Rio de Janeiro.
In his second participation in exhibition, Barila presents black and white photos that invite you to contemplate the beauty of the coast of Rio de Janeiro and reveal the daily life of fisherman throwing their net into the sea of Paraty in the late afternoon.
This year, three photos by Mário Barila were selected for exhibition by curators Angela Magalhães and Nadja Peregrino, who together have already signed renowned photography exhibitions in Brazil, including Fundarte National Photography Weeks, and abroad, in countries like China, Russia, Belgium, Argentina and Ecuador.
Organized by Paulo Salgado, artistic director of Icon Artes Galeria, the 10th edition of Fotografia Arte Plural will bring together images of 15 photographers, with the aim of offering exhibition space for those who want to promote their photographic works in the contemporary art scene.
“In current times, Art exhibition spaces are still limited for those who want to promote their work in the contemporary art scene. Aware of this fact, we provide the space for new perspectives to participate in the tenth edition of the Plural Art Photography exhibition, where the gallery is located at the Bhering Factory, which has become one of the most cultural artistic hubs in the city today”, declares Paul.
Para Barila, the collective exhibition represents an opportunity to draw public attention to the need to preserve the environment, ensure the survival of local inhabitants and the planet, as well as publicizing your photographic work to visitors, collectors, architects and interior designers interested in acquiring works based on sustainability for their projects and personal collection.
The income obtained from the sale of Barila's photos during the exhibition will go towards the Água Vida Project actions, initiative that uses the art of photography to support social and environmental causes.
According to the photographer and environmentalist, The resources obtained from the sale of his photos have already financed a thousand seedlings of native trees from the Atlantic Forest, especially Taiuva, considered extinct in the region, intended for the recovery of degraded areas of the Sugarloaf Mountains, Urca and the Paisagem Carioca Municipal Natural Park, which covers the Leme hills, Vulture, Babylon and Saint John.
