At this time, where all cultural spaces and activities are public or private, where artists in all forms of expression of art and culture find themselves without the momentary possibility of publicizing their works and activities, I have noticed through conversations with artist friends the growing concern regarding the return of all cultural activities in our city and country.

The concern is not only with disclosure of their works, of your art, but also with the financial aspect, intellectual, emotional and absence or impossibility of living with other people due to the social isolation imposed by this pandemic, it should be noted that this concern is not restricted to artistic activities, but of the whole society as a whole.

With this worrying and to some extent distressing panorama I asked the Psychologist Vanessa Fuzatti an analysis of this moment from the point of view of Psychology, so that we can all together overcome it with tranquility.

The artist is a free person, because the artistic process goes far beyond what our eyes can see. The artist has something of an angel, when creating your work expressing your art, transcends sex, the color, race, the time, religion and space, There is no right or wrong, only the creation of the one who freely gave himself up to art.

Among so many possibilities, there's one that the artist doesn't expect, does not match your gift, be pruned into your freedom of speech, because being free is your oxygen, your food. The contemplation of his work is an inexhaustible source, for new creations. As the great Vicent Van Gogh:

“… And then, I have nature, art and poetry, and if that is not enough, what is enough?”

Until a day between summer and autumn, things out of the commonplace, in a way that no artist, not even the height of your creative process would you imagine.

A virus blows up and subtracts what the artist has that is unique, freedom. The stages went out, to the galleries, exhibitions and art fairs have closed music no longer plays in the same tone… Your audience and admirers are trapped in fear, in anguish.

A pandemic stole the show, shining more than any art, the lights and spotlight are on it, nobody dares to create tomorrow, because now everything is uncertain.

We mean by isolation, the separation of something from its context, in our case we are separated from the others, the routine that we had until then, deprived of the right to come and go.

How is the emotional side of the isolated human being? Mainly from a select group of people, that work through the expression of creativity, of freedom of creation, the artist.

When we enter the psychological aspect of the human being, we have some variants, human behavior varies according to what each individual brings from his early age, so each one will act differently in the same lived moment.

Some artists will feel bound, while others will use their work tools, and through paints and brushes they will put all their emotion expressing the feelings that the pandemic brought to them.

We must remember that painting is part of a psychotherapeutic process, where the patient expresses his pains and conflicts through art.

To a medical psychiatrist Nise da Silveira, was the precursor in this matter, at the Psychiatric Center in which he was practicing, he joined the occupational therapy area, created painting and modeling workshops, with the intention of providing mental patients with a way to get in touch with reality. In this way, revolutionized Psychiatry that until then, only used electroshock, insulin therapy and lobotomy in their patients.

“I recommend that all artists, independent of the segment, don't stop with your art, channel the energy of the moment in your creations. Let's sing, dancem, interpret and paint!!!!”

"We need you! Only the artist touches our soul through his music, transporting us to the most exciting moments of our lives. His characters allow us to identify when we were alone. His paintings transport us to infinity, to places we never imagined exist. Who to see a screen with a simple little house, and a lake around it, didn't imagine there? I'll go further, I know people who, when they see places depicted in paintings, swore they were already in that place, even when they know that the image portrayed is just the creation of an artist. ”

“Keep going, create, produce, soon, soon, we will be united again, you on stage, at the exhibitions and we applaud. ”
