It is still possible to register for the new lato sensu postgraduate class in Cultural Management at Universidade Candido Mendes, classes start today, day 30 September. On occasion, theater director Marcus Faustini, creator of award-winning social transformation through culture project in London, in 2013, is the guest speaker for the inaugural class open to the public where he will talk about culture – the difference in the crisis. your project, Youth Network Agency, had its methodology – created with the aim of transforming ideas from young people from Rio’s favelas into projects to impact their communities, increasing its networks and repertoires – awarded the Calouste Gulbenkian Prize, in addition to a sum of 175 thousand pounds, which served to implement the same methodology in London and Manchester, in partnership with Battersea Arts Center, o Contact Theatre e o People’s Palace Projects.
Today, in Brazil, around 70% of cultural facilities are public and the market trend is to transform them into Social Organizations (OS). Therefore, It is essential that both public authorities, industry and cultural networks and institutions have qualified staff in management and finance, beyond, of course, passionate about the topic. There are 12 years the MBA in Cultural Management UCAM has been training and recycling people who work in cultural segments to prepare and develop all the steps necessary to master the business, of innovation and cultural entrepreneurship, through an integrated vision of the various areas involved: Administration, Economy, Right, Marketing, Arts and culture.
About the course
The course adopts the format Master Business Administration (MBA) and classes are taught by prominent professionals in national culture, that combine practical experience with academic experience.
This was the first course held by UCAM in agreement with the Brazilian Association of Cultural Management, through the Social and Cultural Studies Graduate Program, linked to Dean of Undergraduate Studies and Research at UCAM. The configuration of this partnership allows great freedom for coordinators to design curricula creatively, in order to meet student expectations and market demands.
“We put together a curriculum aimed at training, reflective and entrepreneurial way, the professionals who will manage institutions, cultural programs and projects. Art and culture institutions multiply in the expansion of the information as a vehicle of leisure and consumer goods, uniting multidisciplinary content from the worlds of culture and management science”, explains the academic Coordinator, Katia de Marco.

Training scholarships for Cultural Managers
The Brazilian Association of Cultural Management will select 2 people from peripheral communities, or social risk, of the State of Rio de Janeiro, that develop transformative projects in the cultural and social areas of their communities, to undertake the MBA course in Cultural Management with a full scholarship. The selection procedures will soon be published on the ABGC website and on the ABGC Facebook page.
Marcus Faustini – He is a documentary filmmaker, writer and theater director. Founded the Nova Iguaçu Free Cinema School. Author of the Affective Guide to the Periphery, currently coordinates the Youth Network Agency (River, London and Manchester) e o Festival Hometheatre (River, London and South Africa), in addition to writing weekly for Segundo Caderno (The Globe).
Academic coordinator – Katia de Marco – Graduated in social sciences and a master's degree in science of Art from the Fluminense Federal University. Is independent curator and member of the Brazilian Association of art critics-ABCA. He founded and chairs the Brazilian Association Cultural Management - ABGC and is academic coordinator of the Graduate Program in Cultural and Social Studies - PECS, University Candido Mendes, where he also coordinates the MBA in Cultural Management, MBA in Economics and Creative Cities, MBA in Management of Museums, MBA in Environmental Management and a Postgraduate Diploma in Cultural Production. It is the project manager Dialogue Café Rio, UN/UNAOC/UCAM and is also Director of the Museu Antonio Parreiras SMU/SEC/RJ.
