CAMPOS DO JORDÃO WILL HAVE, ALL WINTER, THE FESTIVAL “MUSIC IN THE WINTER OF THE MAGIC MOUNTAIN”
The Toriba, in Campos do Jordao, the most musical of Brazilian hotels, keeps through your project Toriba Musical a great music program with performances during all 52 weeks of the year. And now, intensifying musical activities, returns to hold another festival, contributing to make these times that the pandemic have made so difficult more bearable.
With the title “Winter Music from the Magic Mountain”, the festival is ambitious. Starting with its unprecedented duration, that will cover all winter. three whole months, from the winter solstice to the spring equinox – from 19 from June to 21 on Sep.
The programation, made by Antonio Luiz Barker, artistic director of the program Toriba Musical, will have about 50 concertos, always of classical music, in lyrical and instrumental recitals. The shows will be performed in the spaces of the Hotel Toriba (Fireplace Room and Solarium) and also in squares, churches and community spaces in popular neighborhoods in Campos do Jordão – these, accessible free of charge to the city's population, taking the Festival to audiences with little access to cultural events.
“Our goal with the ‘Magic Mountain Winter Festival’ is to offer the guests of the Toriba and to all Jordanians the pleasure of live music with top performers”, says Aref Farkouh, hotel owner. he adds: “Especially in these pandemic times we consider it of the utmost importance to have a musical season of the highest quality echoing in the majestic mountains of Mantiqueira”.
Prokofiev at all concerts – The singers and instrumentalists participating in the festival “Winter Music from the Magic Mountain” will be, mostly, artists who are part of the program's casting Toriba Musical and present themselves frequently at the hotel.
Among them, the pianists Barros Eudoxia and Fernando de Castro, the violinists Yuriy Rakevich and Benjamin Bernardes, as sopranos Marly Montoni and Jessica Leo, the tenors Marcello Vannucci and Ulisses Montoni, or baritone Rodolfo Giugliani, the Amabile String Quartet and the children's choir Singing Girls from Campos do Jordão.
But there will also be several musicians who will perform for the first time at the Toriba. Among others, the cellist Adriana Holtz, to pianist Karin Fernandes, or clarinet player Thiago Sandoval and the Quintet Novos Ventos.
The festival will also have dance performances, with students from the newly initiated Ballerinas from Campos do Jordão, social project supported by Toriba, directed by Vanessa Elias, from Vanessa Ballet Academy.
will be dominant, in practically all the programming, the presence of compositions of Serguei Prokofiev, Russian composer that in this year of 2021 would have completed 130 birth years. One of the many works of Prokofiev to be presented is “Peter and the Wolf”, in camera version.

The schedule for June and July – The festival “Winter Music from the Magic Mountain” starts on saturday 19 June with a very special recital, with two singers, a winner and a finalist, of the 19º Brazilian Singing Contest Maria Callas 2021 – accompanied on the piano by Marco Bernardo. the following saturday, day 26, new recital with two other contest winners and finalists. The results of Maria Callas Contest, as we all know, will only be known on the next day 13 June.
On Wednesdays 23 and 30 we will have lyric recitals with the baritone Rodolfo Giugliani and the pianist Antonio Luiz Barker.
During the month of July, we will have in the spaces of the Toriba soprano recitals Francielle de Barros (Saturday day 4); of the pianist Lucas Gonçalves (wednesday day 7); as a pianist Barros Eudoxia (friday day 9); of the duo formed by the soprano Marly Montoni and the tenor Ulisses Montoni (Saturday day 10); of the duo formed by the cellist Adriana Holtz and the pianist Karin Fernandes (wednesday day 14); as a soprano Adriana Bernardes (Saturday day 17); of the duo formed by the violinist Guido Sant’Anna and the pianist Rosana Diniz (wednesday day 21); of the singer and pianist Fernando de Castro (Saturday day 24); of the duo formed by the clarinetist Thiago Sandoval and the pianist Rosana Diniz (wednesday day 28). Several other presentations are still pending confirmation..
Note that also in 2021 the program's July events Toriba Musical are part of the official program of the Campos do Jordão International Winter Festival - to be made of 3 from July to 1st of August.
