Composed of fragments of monuments, facilities reproduce the situation of such parts which were found by the artist in public deposits, as a kind of "ready made" from oblivion.
"Both facilities invert the place of art in the field of public memory policies. Instead of being its object, art here thinks these policies, suggesting a debate on the social production of the aesthetics of memory and forgetting in the public space. ", declares the artist and professor at FAU - USP.
In "Slaughter of Light "the focus of the artist is the set of eight sculptures that were in the Maltese Cross Lake, located inside the Garden of Light. deployed, in your most, in the century 19, They were torn down and broken into 2016, in an act of depredation. And the most important: which held the material point of view and symbolic?”, investigates.
The design of the two facilities continues the research that resulted in the intervention Memory Amnesia performed by the artist in the Municipal Historical File 2015 to 2016. It began to be designed even in the face of Renato management at the City Museum. Giselle Beiguelman points out that one of the most important elements of the current project, Like the previous, It is the fact of being carried out in partnership with the Department of Historical Heritage and the Museum of the City of São Paulo. They are made only from authorization of the use of parts and input in Deposits, but also from the exchange and negotiation of views and motivations ", says the artist.
