Project "MNBA: open for works | Antínoo, artwork + old from the Museum's collection”

Attracting the eyes of visitors at the MNBA Moldings I gallery, the oldest work of the Museum collection is a marble sculpture representing Antínoo, Emperor Hadrian's young lover.

This Thursday, day 21 October, from 15h, within the MNBA Project: Open for works, the curator of the MNBA sculpture collection, and doctor in museology Euripedes Junior, will talk in person about the trajectory of the work until it arrived in Brazil and how the resonance of this passion had great repercussions in classical Greco-Roman art.

This marble bust dates from the time of Emperor Hadrian (76 to 138 d.C.), and was found in 1878 in the excavations sponsored by D. Teresa Cristina, Empress of Brazil, in the vicinity of rome (Italy), more precisely in Veio, old etruscan city.

The project “MNBA: open for works” always takes place on Thursdays, from 3 pm to 4 pm, with places limited to 30 participants. Free registration only through emeio: mnba.eventos@gmail.com
