Project “Era uma Vez” will collect children's books for the reading room of Morro do Estado in Niterói

Those interested in contributing to this social action may leave their works at Estácio Niterói

The place will also receive toys, clothes and chocolates that will be distributed on Children's Day

Rio de Janeiro - September 2021 – with the pandemic, society lit an orange alert for educational issues that can collaborate with children living in social vulnerability. Attentive to this demand, the Nucleus of Psychopedagogical Support and Accompaniment (NAAP) and the Estácio Niterói Library team are receiving donations from children's book. Estácio's “Era uma Vez” project will help the reading room of Morro do Estado in Niterói. Those interested in contributing to this action may leave their works, Monday-Friday, from 10:00 to 7:30 pm, on Rua Eduardo Luiz Gomes, 134, Niteroi Center, no Bloco B do campus Estacio Niteroi. The initiative will be held until the day 30 of September and more information can be obtained by email thays.almeida@estacio.br . All copies will be delivered to the Morro do Estado Community Association.

According to Thays Almeida, psychologist at Estácio and organizer of the project “Era uma Vez”, the little ones from Morro do Estado will have fun and “travel” through reading, but they also like and need toys, clothes and chocolate. She is already thinking about Children's Day and, on account of the date, will also receive these donations until the day 30 September, in the same location, days and time above. Residents of Niterói and adjacent municipalities will be able to help with 4 different shapes: kit 1 (3 new or used toys); kit 2 (2 candy boxes or BIS); kit 3 (new and used children's clothes, size between 8 and 14 years) and kit 4 (children's socks, size between 8 and 14 years).

"We believe that these actions will alleviate the difficulties of these children who are going through a very challenging time. We want to encourage more empathy in our students., employees and all citizens who live in Niterói and regions around our campus”, says Luiz Felipe Clavery, manager of Estácio Niterói.
