The National Arts Foundation - Funarte published, launched the Funarte Visual Arts Award 2020/2021 - The Dialogue Between the Historical Patrimony of the City of Rio de Janeiro and the Brazilian Present in Visual Arts and Urban Spaces. The selection process is valid for all of Brazil and will select five projects for video or photography exhibitions that encompass the different languages ​​of the arts.

Proposals must consider the country's historical heritage, present in visual and visual arts, in the architecture and urban spaces of Brazilian cities; and have as reference “the historical heritage of the city of Rio de Janeiro, from its architectural and / or urban heritage; and / or through the production of visual and visual arts ”.

Projects need to present the relationship between this legacy and the(s) otherwise(s) city(s) from the country, using, necessarily, in the construction of the work's argument “two axes of historical and artistic dialogue”. Are they: to) Space axis, relating these inheritance to the environment that surrounds it; e b) Time axis, relating these historical records to elements from two periods, "One before and one after the Independence of Brazil."

Proposals must provide for individual exhibitions of at least thirty days, along 2021. Video and / or photo supports must be used in the works. Exhibitions must be held at Funarte spaces, to be defined by the Selection Committee: at the Fayga Ostrower Gallery, at Funarte Brasília (DF); or Flávio de Carvalho or Mário Schemberg galleries at Funarte SP, in São Paulo; or in the warehouse 5 from Funarte MG.

Individuals can apply, over eighteen, born or naturalized Brazilians, as an individual or as a collective representative; or legal entity of a cultural nature, for-profit or non-profit, active in the field of visual arts. Each candidate can register a maximum of three, projects, can be contemplated in just one.
