Who can apply
International call, open to all artistic media, all ages above 18 years, all genders and all educational backgrounds.
Phase 1 de candidatura ‘Early bird’
15 November 2020 – 17 January 2021 (midnight CET)
Of all the applications we receive during the phase 1, we will select 10 artists for the longlist. Apply early and secure one of the top positions on the longlist! You will be notified by 30 January and we will start promoting it in February 2021.
Candidacy phase 2
18 January – 15 March 2021 (midnight CET)
Of all the applications we receive during the Phase 2 we will select 20 artists for the longlist. Selected artists will be notified by 30 March and promoted throughout the month of April 2021.
Who will select
An international jury of high-level industry professionals will evaluate applications, look for the artist who demonstrates the most significant potential, professionalism, and who has convincingly and skillfully executed a concept or work.
Long list artists
30 artists on the list will be featured on the website and actively promoted on social media throughout the Spring 2021.
Shortlisted artists
10-15 shortlisted artists will be selected from the longlist in early April 2021. Shortlisted artists can exhibit at a group exhibition and are eligible to win the 3 Awards. In addition, each artist on the shortlist receives a promotion for the Artsy profile of the gallery, do website, through PR and social media channels.
Exhibition during Gallery Weekend Berlin
The artists' shortlist exhibition and the announcement of the Prize winners is a highlight during the Gallery Weekend Berlin of 30 from April to 2 of May 2021. Gallery Weekend Berlin is one of the leading contemporary art events in Germany and attracts enthusiasts and art collectors from around the world, visiting the vibrant city of Berlin, a city that has become a European center for creative.

Short list exhibition at Kühlhaus Berlin
The Kühlhaus Berlin is one of the most favored locations in the city for artistic and cultural events. It is a heritage building in Gleisdreieck, a central and well-known location in Berlin.
The BBA Artist Prize exhibition 2021 is on the 5th floor of the building, that offers the following: Exhibition space of more than 600 M2, elevator entrance, wheelchair access, sanitary facilities.
The vast space allows for the presentation of about a dozen artists and a variety of media – from to video art, projections installed, time-based media to sculptural works. The brick walls alternate with a classic white cube style – so that the paintings, photographs and printed works find, each one of them, a perfect spot.
