After selection at the Berlin Festival, SMALL GIRL wins the award for best international feature film at the Mix Brazil Film Festival, elected by the public.
With an exhibition within the Festival Mix Brasil program during 72hrs of 17 to 19.11 the film SMALL GIRL to be distributed from Brazil by Imovision makes its debut and first session for Brazilians after the Berlin Festival and won the Festival as BEST INTERNATIONAL LONG-FILM elected by the audience of the event.
Increasingly if the subject is discussed: gender dysphoria, defined as “discomfort or suffering caused by a discrepancy between a person’s gender identity and their assigned sex at birth”, which is just what the character Sasha a little girl from 7 years ,live in your life, a boy is born but his wish is to be a girl. Gender dysphoria is a controversial issue and should be debated by psychologists and parents, generates many doubts, lack of family support, and it can happen to a child around 2 years old, at this age, she is already aware that there are feminine and masculine and some of them realize that their behavior does not match what the body indicates.
The director of Little Girl, Sébastien Lifshitz has twice won the Teddy Award, awarded by an independent committee at the Berlin International Film Festival to the best films of the year with LGBT themes, winning the Best Feature Film in 2004 for Wild Side and the Best Documentary in 2013 for Bambi, a documentary profile of the French transgender artist Marie-Pierre Pruvot.
