The composer and conductor Letieres Leite is invited to upcoming shows based Orchestra Blowing happen in days 11 and 12, in the Oscar Niemeyer Museum. The repertoire includes compositions and arrangements by the guest who is also dedicated to researching and promoting Afro-Brazilian music. In the Program songs like ‘Floresta Azul’, ‘Alaude’ and ‘Taboão’ bring a new sound to the Orchestra.

Letieres is one of today's leading conductors and arrangers and has a strong connection with African music, explains Sérgio Albach, artistic director of OABS. “In these presentations the Orchestra is dealing with a new language, that has no similar in our repertoire. This stimulates us and increases our musical range”, concludes Sergio.

Among Letieres' most important works, the direction of the Salvador wind and percussion orchestra stands out: a Rumpilezz, group already known to the Curitiba public. Currently, the researcher is dedicated to his UPB method of teaching Afro-Bahian music, as educational Director of the youth training project Rumpilezzinho, artistic-pedagogical coordinator of the training centre at the FUNCEB Arts – SECULTe art consultant and Art Design Education in the Resumé, the municipality of Salvador.

Wind-based Orchestra

Maintained by ICAC and considered one of the main Brazilian instrumental music groups, the group was founded in 1998 by conductor Roberto Gnattali. With approximately 17 years of existence, has six phonographic releases to his credit and more than 20 guest artists, among them: Nelson Ayres, Joyce Moreno, Vocals Brasileirão, Toninho Ferragutti, Vittor Santos, Itiberê Zwarg, Nailor Proveta, Roberto Sion, Mauro Senise, Laércio de Freitas, Emilio Santiago, among others, in addition to a Gafieira repertoire with singer Roseane Santos.

Currently with 18 Members, among them the conductor Sérgio Albach, The Orchestra performs annually about 16 presentations. In this diverse panorama of repertoires, OABS is today considered one of the main Brazilian music groups in the country, and has been improving in researching new sounds for our Brazilian popular music.
