O MAR – Rio Art Museum, under the management of the Institute Odeon, receives Muquifu – Museum of Quilombo and Urban Slums in FLUP 2019. The Muquifu meets in your photo collection, objects, documents, Party pictures, celebrations and stories that represent the tradition and the cultural life of the residents of the various slums and urban quilombos of Minas Gerais. Its aimed at ensuring the recognition and safeguarding slum, the true urban quilombos in Brazil. Not only places of suffering and hardship, but also of collective memory and culture worthy of being cared for.
One of his mediation devices with the public is the Muquifoca – a traveling museum, mounted on a popcorn cart, where stories, memoirs, Muquifu books and the collection of objects are taken to other places and public. The Muquifoca is also a small library that can receive donations of books and will distribute popcorn to people who participate in their activations. Thus, the Muquifu the collection goes beyond its headquarters, in Santo Antonio neighborhood, in Belo Horizonte, and can spark new insights about the african-Brazilian cultural heritage and the people who live in urban slums and Quilombos. Directed and curated by Father Mauro Luiz da Silva, the Muquifu, apart from being a resistance spot, It is identified as a territory museum.
Throughout the Faculty, the Muquifoca will undergo several SEA environments, as the Foyer, Mirante and Pilotis, with activations, storytelling, free distribution of books and publications, workshops and conversation circles for audiences of all ages. The activities will be led by the team Muquifu and educators SEA.

The Art Museum of the river-SEA
An initiative of Prefeitura do Rio in partnership with Fundação Roberto Marinho, the sea has activities that involve collecting, registration, search, preservation and return of cultural property to the community. Proactive support space education and culture, the museum was born with a school - the School Look -, whose proposal is innovative museological: foster the development of an educational program of reference for actions in Brazil and abroad, combining art and education from the curatorial program that guides the institution.
The sea is managed by the Odeon, a social organization of culture. The museum has the Globe Group as maintainer, the Equinor as master sponsor, Bradesco Seguros as sponsor, BNDES as financial backer and Rede D'Or St. Louis as a supporter of exhibitions through the Federal Law on Cultural Incentives.
The School of the Look is sponsored by City Hall of Rio de Janeiro, Secretaria Municipal de Cultura, Dataprev, TNA, In Group Press and BNY Mellon through the Municipal Law of Cultural Incentive – Law of the ISS and Machado Meyer Lawyers via Federal Law on Cultural Incentives.
