Rio Art Museum invites experts to debate pandemic reflections on areas such as culture and education

‘Dialogues and Confluences Meeting’ will be held live next day 28 August, Friday, no Youtube do MAR

Even with the doors closed for five months due to the covid-19 pandemic, Rio Art Museum, under the management of the Institute Odeon, continues at full throttle carrying out various actions on its social networks. The next day 28 August, from 10pm, MAR promotes, throughout the day, another activity in your canal do YouTube: the “Dialogues and Confluences Meeting”. This will be a space for reflection and information sharing about how education practices, art, Culture, health and public policies connect, cross and converge in the pandemic scenario.

With the objective of giving visibility to discussions and practices in favor of combating covid-19 and reflecting culture as a daily practice in its micro-knowledge, resistance tactics and strategies, the event has the participation of names like Raull Santiago, communicator and social activist; Pamela Carvalho, governess, historian and master of ceremonies of the MAR Music Program; Maria Raquel Fernandes, psychiatrist and general director of the Bispo do Rosário Contemporary Art Museum; among other specialists, communicators and media activists who will share with the public, through lectures and debates, your questions, ideas and actions.

In the first panel, às 10h, Master in Education from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), Pamela Carvalho, will address topics such as health, anti-racism and social relations in the face of the new coronavirus pandemic. Soon after, às 14h, the nurse and professor at UFRJ, Cecilia Izidoro, and the anthropologist and professor at the same university, Fatima Lima, hold a debate mediated by the museum manager and psychiatrist, Maria Raquel Fernandes, in which they talk about the challenges of health promotion in the impact of the pandemic. at 16h, the thematic table 'Committees of life in the favelas and social technologies' takes place, with communicators and activists Raull Santiago and Cosme Felippsen and mediation by educator and journalist Gizele Martins. To end, at 18h, Pastor Henrique Vieira holds a conference with the theme ‘The reinvention of life and new pacts for good living’.

Programming:

• 10h – Lecture: Life policies and death policies: health, anti-racism and social relations. With educator and historian Pâmela Carvalho

We are not equal. And this inequality manifests itself even when dying. Death is a policy that manifests itself differently with different individuals. The processes of genocide of black populations, the epistemicide and the lack of access to public health policies, express some faces of death as a social marker of inequality. Given this history, it is necessary to think: how to fight death policies and how to present life policies?

• 14h – Thematic table: Challenges of health promotion in the impact of the pandemic

Once again humanity is faced with a pandemic that triggers fear, anguish and collapse in social organization, making the discussion about the importance of a public health system increasingly necessary. The exhausted SUS, heroically became the shield to protect us from this unknown enemy. So that now, how to train and welcome health professionals who are at the forefront of this fight? How to prepare them to deal with the challenges and expectations of the territory and amplify the experiences of community organization in combating covid-19? What analysis can intersectionality give us to understand the health indicators and the profile of those affected by the new coronavirus? They would be able to produce new subjectivities and move us from apathy to social transformation?

• 16h – Thematic table: Slum life committees and social technologies

In these almost six months of the covid-19 pandemic in the country, are the community communicators in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro and across the country who have organized themselves to bring information about the symptoms and risks of contamination of the new coronavirus. In The River, this internal communication in the favela has been done in the most different and creative ways to serve the public: community radio, TVs, newspapers, sites, Arts, sound cars, tracks, posters, podcasts, lives, etc. In other words, a union of different communication platforms to bring residents information about the disease and all the consequences of the pandemic in the favela. These same collectives have also been looking for ways to donate basic food baskets and hygiene kits to the most vulnerable populations. It does not stop there: during all this time these groups sought to communicate with each other and exchanged experiences, materials, information and support.

• 18h – Conference: The reinvention of life and the new pacts for good living
  With Pastor Henrique Vieira

The reinvention of life requires an individual and collective decision. It is the need to recognize the absurd character of a civilizational logic based on the unbridled accumulation of capital, in the concentration of wealth, in social inequality, in the commodification of human relations and in the systemic attack on Mother Earth, in addition to the institutional mechanisms of violence and massacre of bodies and peoples that do not fit into this selective citizenship. This civilizational way slays individualities, steals quality of life, causes illness and death. Pacts are needed that point to emancipatory solidarity, for mutual care, for the sharing of goods and respect for diversity. It is necessary to rescue the ethical and political sense of love as a basis for building good living, a political affectivity capable of opening more generous and fuller horizons for humanity.
