Muhhab – one of the 15 little africa dots
Neighbor to Cais do Valongo, In Gamboa, the Museum of Afro-Brazilian History and Culture (Muhhab) It is one of 15 points of memory that make up Little Africa, in the Port Region, and is located at the José Bonifácio Cultural Center.
The Museum was created in 2017, by decree, but it had never been opened to the public.. The collection there holds approx. 2,5 thousand items, among paintings, sculptures and photographs, as well as works by contemporary plastic artists, that dialogue with the space. The current management of the Municipal Secretariat of Culture carried out the cleaning and restoration of the gutters to prevent leaks. Parts have been cleaned, some also for small restorations and or gained a new frame.
