Mul.ti.plo Espaço Arte opens on the day 10 de março uma exhibition de Afonso Tostes. The exhibition runs until 29 April, Leblon, with free admission.

“Trabalho sobre o que já existe, discarded things out there, who suffered the interference of the human hand. I am interested in man's relationship with his surroundings, with nature. I am not just talking about the relationship with the environment, but also of personal relationships, of our visible and invisible expressions ”, explains Afonso.

The charcoal series is made up of about seven wall objects on screen, of 40cm x 50cm. The work began with the collection of residues of charred trees in a burning in the region of Visconde de Mauá. After, he found in a street in Copacabana an illustrated dictionary of the 1960. “They had several reproductions of nature paintings, a cataloging of species. I started to confront these two ideas and then the series was born, that joins carved coal with butterfly illustrations, fish, aves, rodents, insects and mammals ”, explained.

In another series, It uses the encyclopedia leaves as the basis for drawings made with residual wood powder pigments, collected in your own studio. These works measure between 210cm x 100cm and 60cm x 40cm. To complete to Mostra, Afonso Tostes also has sculptures made from branches, tied, de 202cm X 60cm. “With a powerful and unique language, Afonso's works in this exhibition speak of human precariousness. The works are sophisticated, and carry a certain melancholy of the hour, A feeling of fragility of life, of this ability to destroy it but also to transform it into poetry ”, Finishes Maneco Müller, Gallery partner.
