Gathering 21 drawings and gouaches by Carlos Sussekind, to exhibition “The office” opens day 3 August, Thursday, at 4:00 pm, in the Museum Room, located on Avenida Presidente Vargas, 590 room 701 (in front of the Uruguaiana subway station, at the Center).

Curated by the artist's daughter, and museologist Adriana Sussekind, the exhibition honors the writer, plastic artist, Carioca lexicographer and translator (1933-2021), and was conceived during the period when Carlos Sussekind worked at the Prensa Latina news agency and at the State Court of Auditors (TCE, between 1964 and 1969). 

The public will be able to enjoy finished and unfinished drawings, in addition to some creation steps such as sketches, collages and other resources. The works were inspired by the artist's personal experiences and also by his readings of Franz Kafka and Russian writers..

Sussekind's visual production went through several phases: from the figurative to the abstract, from supercolor to monochrome.

“The intense colors, the synthesis of the energetic trait, and the diagonal lines bring movement to the scenery of your drawings, villages of characters and objects such as: the typewriter, the cup of coffee and the piles of books”, as Adriana explains.

Carlos Sussekind was born into a family of writers, musicistas, theater lovers, cinema and all cultural manifestations. He attended the faculty of philosophy. self-taught in the arts, always surrounded himself with friends, distinguished painters such as Fabio Innecco and Mario Carneiro, who encouraged him in the artistic process.

The exhibition “The office” is on display in 03 from August to 31 October, with visits on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 3 pm to 7 pm (visits scheduled by phone: 99279-9255). Free entry!
