On 13 January, 5of, the National Museum of Fine Arts/Ibram complete 85 years of creation and to celebrate, we prepared a face-to-face presentation with works that have just arrived in the collection, within the MNBA project: Open for Works.
The public will be able to see the set of works of art incorporated into the collection, thanks to a joint action by the MPF, AGU and Ibram, me until 2021. There are ten works by the artist Di Cavalcanti (1897-1976), one from Djanira (1914-1979) and another one by Emeric Marcier (1916-1990).
Having produced works that dialogued with the Brazilian cultural and social imaginary, the modernist Di Cavalcanti was a painter, caricaturist and illustrator from Rio de Janeiro, who helped organize the Modern Art Week, held in São Paulo, in 1922.
Born in Avare (SP), Djanira da Mota e Silva portrayed the customs, the habits and soul of its people, among other topics. The Romanian artist (Brazilian naturalized) Emeric Marcier devoted himself to religious subjects.
In addition to the display, there will be a lecture about this collection, to be given by MNBA technicians. All this from 3pm.
The project “MNBA: Open for Works” takes place on Thursdays, from 3 pm to 4 pm, with places limited to 30 participants. Registration via email only: mnba.eventos@gmail.com.
