The artist participates in the Chromatica exhibition during Art Basel Week in the city of Miami
The plastic artist from Minas Gerais Miguel Gontijo has his works in exhibition in the United States, during the ART BASEL WEEK, in the city of MIAMI – Florida, curated by Jade Matarazzo and produced by Instituto João Ayres in partnership with The House of Arts gallery.
The city of Miami becomes the center of the art world of the day 29 November to 4 th December 2022, hosting more than 20 international art fairs, more than 1.200 galleries, thousands of artists and tens of thousands of art lovers.
The ART BASEL WEEK MIAMI also includes popups, festivals, facilities, Parties, museum exhibitions, street art, lectures, concerts and more. This galaxy of events is anchored by the leading contemporary art festival in North America and, no doubt, no world, Art Basel Miami Beach.
The exhibition is curated by Jade Matarazzo, born in São Paulo, residing in Miami for more than 20 years, the artistic entrepreneur and curator creates cultural and social projects using art as a cultural identity tool. She is the founder of The House of Arts and several other international projects, co-founder of Expoart Japan, Expoart London e Ateliers Without Borders.
The project is part of the proposal of the João Ayres Institute to internationalize art and culture from Minas Gerais.
About the artist
Born in Santo Antônio do Monte (MG), Miguel Gontijo lives in Belo Horizonte. He began his studies at the Guignard School and, in 1978, graduated in history from the Faculty of Philosophy of Belo Horizonte. He has a post-graduate degree in art and contemporaneity from the State University of Minas Gerais. (UEMG). Has work in several public entities in Brazil and abroad.
In 2011, Miguel won the Mario Pedrosa Award, awarded by the Brazilian Association of Art Critics, in the contemporary language category. Highlight of the Year, in the Fine Arts sector, in specialized columns, in 1977, 1978, 2000 and 2010.

About the João Ayres Institute
The Joao Ayres Institute (FIGHT) It is a non-profit association, qualified as a Civil Society Organization of Public Interest (OSCIP), by the Federal Government. Founded in 2006, in the city of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, the IJA seeks in all its diffusion projects the formation of an audience, democratizing access and promoting awareness and appreciation of the artistic production of local groups and artists.
The João Ayres Institute operates on different fronts: advice, elaboration, conception, formatting, planning, fund-raising, management, production and accountability of cultural projects, social, sporting, educational and tourist.
