With just one click, art lovers from all over the world can have access to the “Julio González, Pablo Picasso and the Dematerialization of Sculpture”, presented at Sala Recoletos, of the MAPFRE Foundation, in Madrid, Spain.

The visit is available virtually on the organization's platform until the day 8 January, and can be accessed in this link.

The partnership between Spanish artists was born in 1928, when both collaborated in the creation of the funerary moment dedicated to the poet Guillaume Apollinaire. The iron sculpture resulting from the process became a landmark of 20th-century art., for introducing abstraction into sculpture.

For the first time, however, this joint work is presented in a exhibition as a response to influences from the transparency and dematerialization movement that agitated different forms of creation at the end of the 1990s 1920 and 1930. The project is signed by art historian Tomàs Llorens, who dedicated a good part of his career to this line of research.

The face-to-face exhibition contains more than 170 works between drawings, paintings and sculptures, some of them unavailable for reproduction. Its virtual version can be explored freely or guided by visual arts curator Casilda Ybarra Satrústegui. The complete brochure about the project can be accessed at website of the Foundation, as well as the original texts accompanying the works.
