“Macbeth 2020”
The Macbeth film-theater 2020, with Luis Lobianco and guest actors from Cia Buraco Show, walks along the path of comedy with the aim of paying homage to the theater and to those who make it happen. Lobianco interprets 7 archetypal characters of the theatrical class. Recognizable figures from the theatrical environment who report their experiences and misfortunes occurred in past Macbeth montages, in a kind of biased and sensationalist documentary. The premiere will be the day 26 March.
The project was born out of the need to occupy theatrical spaces during the Covid-19 pandemic. With the impossibility of promoting agglomerations, culture workers had the Aldir Blanc Act the opportunity to be in action and guarantee emergency income for their families. The most natural way to tell the story, was to incorporate the audiovisual language.
Macbeth 2020 is a film-theater that uses new technologies to reach the public, but it does not give up happening in the light of the universal and timeless theater of William Shakespeare.
What specifically instigates Macbeth is the fact that the play was also written in a quarantine period. For many, the dark character of the text is due to the fear of the bubonic plague that plagued Europe in the early years of the 17th century. Since then, history is reputed to be cursed for a series of misfortunes that occurred to those who dared to turn it into a spectacle.
- Our interest is not to take that secular risk with yet another classic setup, but to investigate who these theater workers are who suffer the consequences of the dreaded curse of the Scottish play -, comments Luis Lobianco. - We have created a card of characters from the real stories of tragic experiences with Macbeth seasons since the time of Shakespeare.
“Macbeth 2020” will be available for free, 24 hours per day, from 26 March to 30 de Mayo, on the YouTube digital platform with exclusive access through the link www.sympla.com.br/macbeth2020.
Archetypal characters of the theatrical class
In this film-theater, Luis Lobianco, who is also the creator and general director of the project, interpret 7 archetypal characters of the theatrical class. Recognizable figures from the theatrical environment who report their experiences in a kind of biased and sensationalist documentary. The references are the extinct TV programs of the years 1980 and 1990 that brought to the last consequences themes related to the underworld of dawn. The characters played by Lobianco are:
– Helium of Wales, presenter of the documentary program. Speaking in a journalistic and somber tone.
– Little John, English actor from Elizabethan theater. He was notorious for masterfully playing female characters at a time when women were barred from acting.
– Rejane Galdán, contemporary theater director. Your company explores physicality and the body as the main language.
– Melchiades Veronese, Rio de Janeiro actor of the Posto generation 9 and Ipanema Theater. Known for being one of the creators of a well-known company in the South Zone of Rio that made noise in the years 80 “Molière's Punch Doesn't Hurt”.
– Carlo Strazzer, little expressive paulista actor from extinct companies that built classics. Always lived in the shadow of his companion, Guti fraga. That yes was a big star, but playing Macbeth made him go crazy and today he lives under Carlo's care.
– Brigitte Fausta, Portuguese actress, great lady of the theater. Always shone on Lusitanian and Brazilian stages. Known for a definitive interpretation by Lady Macbeth. After that, it was only cast for older characters and, therefore, abandoned the stage. Opened a guesthouse in Casimiro de Abreu RJ, where you leave just to receive honors.
– Su Weismann, performer based in New York. Takes your performances and ideas very seriously. Vain, chaotic and cosmopolitan.
The work moves along the path of comicality, with special participation of actors from Cia Buraco Show, in addition to exquisite art direction
From these characters, two narratives take place parallel to what Lobianco calls “documentary Macbeth”. The testimonials are merged with archival images where they are on the scene executing the piece itself. The directors did not give up that these scenes obeyed the chronology in 5 deeds of the work.
In such a delicate moment for artists and audiences, it did not sound appropriate to delve into the tragic aspect of the text. The work moves along the path of comedy with the aim of paying homage to the theater and to those who make it happen.
- As we don't need more tragedy, we found a comical path where I interpret 7 typical figures of the theatrical environment, telling in a documentary misfortunes that affected their lives while trying to accomplish the work. The Macbeth movie 2020 is theater that seeks shelter in the audiovisual to reach the public. There, I am with my stage partners and crew paying homage to the cultural workers in the timeless light of Willian Shakespeare -, Luis Lobianco concluded.
The documentary-film-play has a partnership with Teatro Poeira, TV Zero and Cia Buraco Show, of which Lobianco was one of the founders, in 2012. Sidnei Oliveira, also from the collective, signs the art direction and is responsible for giving the film a theatrical ambience. Props and characterization are strictly handcrafted, made of stationery. Other actors in the group are also present in cameos and embody the witches who curse the life of the king.
About art direction, Sidnei Oliveira comments that “traveling on this Macbeth adventure in the format 'investigative reporter' led us to consider paper as a material sign for the documents of a history and an era. Shakespeare's work might not have come into our hands if it weren't for the role. Conductive design art line, it appears as a form of sculpture mixing with other materials such as paperwork, the folds and textures take the shape of props, wigs, objects, furniture."

MINIBIOGRAPHS OF CREATIVE ARTISTS
Luis Lobianco (performance, direction and idealization) is an actor and theater author, screenwriter, producer and creator. He started his career in 1994, on the Cia Historiarte. In 2003 graduated at the Casa das Artes in Laranjeiras – CAL. He is a co-founder, in 2012, da Cia Buraco Show. With 6 repertoire shows Cia won the Arco-Íris Performing Arts Award (2014) and Special Creation Humor Award (2016) for the Rival Rebolado show. Member of the first formation of the collective Porta dos Fundos, from 2012 to 2017. With the play Portable and the tour record for the Comedy Central channel he was nominated for an International Emmy 2017 in the Best Art Program category. The monologue Gisberta debuted in 2017 and was honored with the Citizenship Award in Respect for Diversity by the organization of the LGBT Parade in São Paulo. Since 2018 is an exclusive actor at Rede Globo. Run for the International Emmy (2017) for Best Art Program with “Laptop” and winner of TV Globo's Best of the Year Trophy (2018), by the novel Segundo Sol. Lobianco has already acted in 28 shows, 13 feature films and 17 TV productions, between novels, series and variety shows.
Rafael Souza-Ribeiro (screenwriter) He is the author of 7 plays staged in Rio de Janeiro between 2017 and 2019, in addition to acting as a screenwriter in cinema projects, TV e streaming. Among his works are: author of the play Gisberta, screenwriter on the series Family Vacations, collaborator in the script for the film Carlinhos e Carlão.
Sidnei Oliveira (art direction) is a make-up artist 21 years. He learned on the film set other functions that make up the backstage of an audio visual work. One of the creators of Cia Buraco Show, he learned to work researching and using what he had in his hands and how to make beautiful props and costumes made of the most diverse materials from bubble wrap to instant noodles.
Thiago Sacramento (audio-visual direction) graduated in Arts and Dance. Acts as audiovisual director, video artist and graphic artist. He has carried out countless works for TV, cinema, music, performing arts, literature, advertising, press and web, as well as graphic and photographic projects. Currently dedicated to scenic research online, conducting experiments with groups and directors.
Tatiana Tiburcio (actor direction) is actress, casting director and trainer. Acted as an actress at Cia dos Comuns and as an actress and director of movement / choreography at Cia Amok Teatro. Drove, alongside Lázaro Ramos the show The Gronholl Method (2020). Prepared the cast for the film Provisional Measure (2019) and the special Falas Negras (2020), both directed by Lázaro Ramos.
Cia Buraco Show (special participation) created in 2012, became famous for its continuous programming in Buraco da Lacraia.
