NOT SO PROVISIONAL
“Provisional Gallery”, Ipanema, extends period of occupation
Conceived by the architect Aline Araújo in partnership with the artist Anderson Thives, the Provisional Gallery opens, temporarily (as the name implies), in the heart of Ipanema. Its ephemerality establishes an analogy with the current pandemic times. This first occupation brings a retrospective of Thives' career: around 40 pieces approaching shows held since the beginning, as well as recent projects, that cover previews of news exhibitions and facilities. All this displayed over the months of stay, with the proposal of also bringing together other artists who dialogue with the proposal of the space.
“Our idea is to bring together art, sets, music and lots of fun, promoting one-off events. New artists from different nationalities will have the opportunity to show their work, following the gallery's proposal, which is to make room for professionals from various fields, as long as they involve Art and Design”, says Anderson Thives. “The gallery will remain open for a long time.!”, celebrate him.
About Anderson Thives
Anderson Thives is one of the only Brazilian artists to work exclusively with collage, in a technique that consists of joining thousands of squares of paper (around five thousand clippings per square meter) in the most varied colors, shades and sizes, taken from magazines and catalogs to form the images.
With a great influence of Pop Art, as well as artists such as Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Tom Welsseman e Richard Hamilton, with his style and taste for the culture of images, specific, direct and easy to assimilate, the artist portrays through his collages all the sensibility, expression and impact formed by an unconventional technique.
