The Studio Gallery opens on the day 2 July, at 12:00, the exhibition Backwoods Cerrado, the renowned photographer José Diniz. Curated by Claudia Tavares. The Studio Gallery is located at avenida Pasteur 453, Urca (21 2541 3314).
Backwoods Cerrado is the result of numerous wanderings of José Diniz in the Brazilian cerrado, What biome by the intense and ungoverned occupation, come causing a series of disastrous social and environmental impacts. Considered by the experts “cradle of waters” is responsible for the main aquifers and springs of the river basins of Brazil.
Attention to the region that covers 25% the national territory, the artist explores, extolling the four elements of nature: water, fire, Earth and air that turned books that received the names Strands, Fire, Terra roxa and gross Delicacy. Currently the award-winning photographer José Diniz lives in Rio de Janeiro. Did solo exhibitions in Rio, in São Paulo, Niterói, Krasnodar [Russia], Buenos Aires [ARG], Montevideo [URU] and Paraty [RJ/BRA]. Participated in group exhibitions in Brazil, in Argentina and in the United States.
Has pictures in private collections, at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, and MAM-Rio/Joaquim Paiva Collection. In 2009 won the awards Leica-shoot and Admiral Tamandaré, Salvador – Bahia. Won the Contemporary Journal Award, Belém – Pará in 2010, 2011 and 2013. In 2011, he exhibited at the III International Biennial Discoveries in Houston, where the Trustees of Fotofest Gallery chose between 12 new photographers 9 countries.

In 2012, was awarded by the prize Marc Ferrez photography Funarte –, with the salty air and the Honorable mention in the contest Photobook Iberoamericano-RM Barcelona Editor. In 2013 He was appointed by the British Journal of Photography as one of the 10 international photographers to be observed. José Diniz published the books "Literally" and "Periscope" and contributed to the books "Carioca Sahara" and "back-and-forth". "Periscope", the Publisher Magdalene, He was appointed by the ICP-International Center of Photography as one of the ten most inspiring of photobooks 2014. He did graduate studies in photography at UCAM [Universidade Cândido Mendes], In addition to courses in MAM-Rio, at the school of Visual Arts of Parque Lage and image Workshop, among others.
