Conducted by the breeding house, from São José do Rio Preto (SP), FAL happens to 29 from January to 7 February, with 58 hours of free programming distributed across 38 activities, involving about 50 culture workers
From 29 from January to 7 February, the second edition of the Literary Actions Festival will be held (FAL), that happens virtually due to the pandemic of the new coronavirus. After honoring educator Paulo Freire in his first edition, in 2019, the author honored in this second edition will be Rubem Alves (1933-2014).
For ten days, the online reading festival will offer 58 hours of free and diverse programming for all ages, distributed in 38 activities, involving about 50 culture workers, art and creativity. The public will be able to follow chats with writers, evening parties, storytelling, musical performances, theater shows, workshops, among other activities.
Conducted by the breeding house – independent art and cultural formation space based in São José do Rio Preto (SP) -, through the Lei Aldir Blanc, the FAL will have the theme “Rubem Alves: the importance of education of the senses ”. The project was one of those contemplated by the Public Notice 06/2020 – Aid for Culture Festivals, launched by the Municipal Secretary of Culture of São José do Rio Preto.
The program will be broadcast live on the home channel to create on YouTube and Facebook. Among the highlights, are the curator of children's and youth books Denise Guilherme Viotto, founder of "A Taba"; author and illustrator André Neves, winner of five Jabuti awards; indigenous educator and researcher Tiago Nhandewa and writer Sacolinha, author of romances, short story books and chronicles, active in the peripheral literature.
From São José do Rio Preto, authors such as Luana Passos participate, educator and writer of poems and short stories published in volumes of “Cadernos Negros”; the writer, illustrator and comic artist Alex Sander; journalist and writer Raul Marques; Carol Petrolini, author of the book “A lua de Alice”, and Laura Barbeiro, to illustrator, among other names.
Performing arts, the Arcenic Nucleus is present, with his newest show, "Silence", and Varanda Teatro group, with "[Boxed Stories] Lambe-lambe Theater ”. The music will be represented by names like André Fernandes, Zeca Barreto and DJ Basim.
There will also be space for training activities, like the workshops “Paper Games / My First Book”, with Paula Alonso, and “Holistic History Storytelling”, with Akila Moreira.
“We seek to align the concept of education that runs through the festival to that of Rubem Alves, bringing up the perspective that bets on provocation, in curiosity and exploration of the senses; and point out the involvement of the literary universe within this proposal ”, says educator Carolina Manzato, FAL curator.
Workshops
People interested in participating in the workshops must register on the website fal.casadecriar.com.br, in order to receive instructions on the materials to be used. Registration starts this Friday, day 22. Only for the “Paper Games / My First Book” workshop, places are limited, and the selection will be in order of registration. For the other workshops, there is a limit of places.
Encouraging reading
The main objectives of the Literary Actions Festival are to encourage and promote reading, democratizing access to books and literature, encouraging literary reading and valuing local literary production. “The online reading festival is part of an intertwining of activities that revolve around literature – where, with mastery, our honoree, Rubem Alves, transited – and other languages of art, also quite mentioned in their texts and which corroborate with the integral formation of the individual, one of the ideas that made up his legacy for the educational field ”, explains Manzato.

About the honoree
Writer, educator and psychoanalyst from Minas Gerais born in Dores da Boa Esperança, Rubem Alves, in his literary production, contemplated, as readers and readers, people from different times and addressed human themes that span the most diverse ages: have many children's books, chronicles that address daily life, to adult life, old age and art.
“It was someone with very important contributions to education, literature writer in all its potentialities and perspectives, that envisioned a world in which education understood the human being as complex, integral, sensitive and emotional, absolutely enjoyer and art producer, respected in their rights since childhood, especially in your educational process ”, points out the FAL curator.
