The Oscar Niemeyer Museum (MON) features, until this sunday (15), to shows “The Labyrinth of Light”, celebrating the 50 Orlando Azevedo's years of photography. Are 237 images, curated by Rubens Fernandes Junior, that can be seen by the public in the Room 1.
The curator created a labyrinth that divides the exhibition into sections referring to some of the photographer’s creative aspects.. Are they: "Ruins"; “Religiosity”; "India"; “Cosmic”; “Portraits”; “Navies”; “Body and Movement”; "Landscape"; “Parties and Popular”; “iPhone”; “Surreal” and “Flight”.
Orlando Azevedo has works in several collections in Brazil and other countries, como no International Center of Photography, in New York; Center Georges Pompidou and French Museum of Photography, in Paris; Museu de Arte de São Paulo (MASP); Museum of Modern Art of São Paulo; Itaú Cultural Institute; City of Curitiba Photography Museum; Portuguese Company of Águas Livres/Lisbon; National Library of Rio de Janeiro; Afro Brazilian Museum, in São Paulo; Photo Library of Cuba, in Havana, besides himself Oscar Niemeyer Museum (MON), and also several important national and international private collections.
In total, Orlando has 12 published books and among them are: “Mestizo – Portrait of Brazil” (2019); “Augusto Weiss 1890/1990” (2017) and “Rio Grande/RS” (2014).
MON – The Oscar Niemeyer Museum (MON) is a state heritage linked to the State Secretariat for Social Communication and Culture of Paraná. The institution houses important references of national and international artistic production in the areas of visual arts, architecture and design, in addition to great Asian and African collections.
In total, The collection has approx. 14 thousand pieces, housed in a space greater than 35 1000 square meters of built area, being 17 thousand square meters of exhibition area, what makes MON the largest art museum in Latin America. The main sponsors of the institution, companies that believe in the transforming role of art and culture, are: Copel, Sanepar, Volvo Group Latin America, Vivo, Focus Group and Anaconda Mill.
