The museum located on Avenida Paulista is preparing to welcome big names in art
One of the main tourist attractions in the state of São Paulo, MASP is one of the great postcards of Avenida Paulista, one of the most famous avenues in Latin America.
Amidst so much hustle and bustle and the commercial hubs in the heart of São Paulo, the differentiated architecture brings together diverse works of art.
And, This year, waits to welcome great artists of the most varied styles.
Inaugurated in 1968, The São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand Art Museum has a rich collection of Brazilian and European art, storing pieces by names like Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Renoir, Portinari, Di Cavalcanti and even Tarsila do Amaral.
So that now, at certain times, usually gather exhibitions quite different.
And, This year, will not be different.
MASP is preparing to welcome several artists and various exhibitions for art lovers.
Video room: Milk Mom/Bartolina Snow
The exhibition has been running since February this year and should last until the day 14 April.
The “Video Room: Masi Mamani/Bartolina Xixa” is available to be visited in the basement of the museum.
Under the supervision of Matheus de Andrade, the videos show a sequence of presentations led by Argentine artist Masi Mamani.
In these records, Masi assumes the persona of drag queen Bartolina Xixa, exploring the relationships between his anthropological research, personal experiences and artistic expression to shed light on the colonial structures that permeate and cross his entire narrative, demonstrated in this audiovisual format.
Francis Bacon
Francis Bacon was a renowned figurative painter of the 20th century, born in 1909 and died in 1992.
He is widely recognized for his expressionistic and often disturbing works., that explore themes such as the human condition, the anguish, loneliness and violence.
Of the day 22 from March until the day 28 th July 2024, the exhibition “Francis Bacon: the beauty of the flesh” will feature more than 20 works of the painter.
The curation was done by Adriano Pedrosa and Laura Cosendey, in the exhibition space on the first floor of MASP.
The collection is made up of works on loan from private collectors and renowned museums around the world., including Tate (United Kingdom), o MoMA (New York), o Metropolitan Museum (New York), o Museum Boijmans van Beuningen (The Netherlands), the Tamayo Museum (Mexico) and the Beyeler Foundation (Switzerland).
Mário de Andrade
Mário de Andrade was one of the most important writers, musicians, Brazilian literary critics and scholars of the 20th century.
Born in São Paulo, Brasil, in 1893, and died in 1945, he played a fundamental role in the Brazilian modernist movement.
The modernist movement was one of the main precursors of plastic arts on the national scene.
Of the day 23 from March until the day 9 of June, the mezzanine of the first basement of MASP will be occupied by the exhibition “Mário de Andrade: Two lives".
The curation was done by Regina Teixeira de Barros, with assistance from Daniela Rodrigues.

The exhibition presents a variety of works, including paintings, drawings, engravings, sculptures and photographs.
All materials belong to the modernist's personal collection, seeking to bring sensitivity and perspective from a queer perspective.
MASP Renner: art in fashion
The exhibition “MASP Renner: Art in fashion” can be visited on the day 22 from March until the day 9 of June.
Located in the second basement of the museum, is carefully curated by Adriano Pedrosa and Leandro Muniz.
This exhibition marks the first time that all the costumes created by different pairs of artists and designers between 2017 and 2022 are gathered.
The main idea is to bring a premise that seeks to reflect the entire concept that involves fashion ideas as an object of study.
Through a careful collection of themes and languages, brings a whole plurality in the pieces.
Gran Fury: art is not enough
this exhibition, called “Gran Fury: art is not enough”, has been happening since February and lasts until the day 9 of June.
Under the direction of André Mesquita, MASP curator, with the collaboration of David Ribeiro, MASP supervisor, This exhibition presents 77 parts, including photocopies and fingerprints on paper.
The exhibition explores the limits and possibilities of the Gran Fury collective's graphic campaigns, and examines the role of art as a strategy in activism, especially driven by members of the queer community, to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS.
MASP is a must-see destination for anyone passing through São Paulo.
