Practical Course: Introduction to conservation and preservation of photographs

The Museu de Arte Sacra de São Paulo promotes workshop on Introduction to conservation and preservation of photographs, with the Prof. Marli Marcondes.

The proposal of the workshop is to train professionals working in the area of documentation, as archivists, Librarians, museologists, Conservatives and those interested in General, in the development of actions and practices of conservation and preservation of historical and contemporary photographic collections.

PROGRAM:
– Training to identify the photographic processes practiced in the 19th and 20th centuries, such as: daguerreotype, ambrotipia, Photo albuminada, wet Collodion, etc.
– Development of diagnosis by evaluating the State of degradation of the picture as a result of external causes, as pollution, moisture, temperature and causes intrinsic to the own photographic support.
– Definition of the treatment to be applied to photography, such as: chemical and mechanical cleaning; minor repairs and conditioning.

Marli Marcondes. Graduated in social sciences by Universidade Estadual Paulista-UNESP; Master and doctorate student in Multimedia Arts Institute-UNICAMP. Specialist in conservation of photographic documents under the guidance of CCPF – FUNARTE, Rio de Janeiro. Specialization in "analysis and expertise in work of art"- Temple School of art (SP). Was Professor at the University of Franca-UNIFRAN (1996), University Paulista-UNIP (2002-2004) and PUC-Campinas (2003-2005). He is currently Coordinator of the laboratory of conservation and restoration of the Memory Center-Unicamp.
