From 26 august to 28 October, space will host the exhibition “Expressions”, in the celebration of 5 years of the Contemporary Collective
In the period of 26 august to 28 October, Iconic association of the Carioca Carnival, located in Santa Teresa, will be the stage of collective exhibition entitled “Expressions”, a celebration marking the fifth anniversary of Coletivo Contemporâneos.
The show, curated by Lu Valença and produced in collaboration with Contemporâneos Galeria, stands out for the gathering of sixteen different artists, each bringing their own artistic perspectives.
in this event, names like Angela Moraes, Afonso D’Ávila, Cadu Leal, Carlos Valencia, Cristina Pine, Denise Greco, Giancarlo Diniz, Laura Vivacqua, Lu Valença, Lúcia Russo, God's Maridea, Renata Barreto, Roberta Costa, Sheila Tostes, Tatti Simões and Vanessa Barini converge for a meeting of expressions, dialogues and friendship that enrich the art scene.
On the opening date of the exhibition, 26 August, there will be a complete experience provided by Coletivo Contemporâneos. In addition to exhibiting works, Galeria Modernistas will host the launch of the book “Stories from My Grandfather's Farm”, written by the multifaceted Carlos Eduardo Leal, who is also a plastic artist and psychoanalyst.
The event will be rocked by the melodies of the Duo Fábio Cezanne on drums and percussion, along with Thiago Lopes on guitar. They will deliver to visitors a diversified Brazilian instrumental repertoire, embracing genres like samba, bossa nova, Baião, afoxé, among others.

For curator, the return to Galeria Modernistas to celebrate the collective’s anniversary is a reason for great joy for all involved. “Contemporaries and Modernists established a highly fruitful partnership over these years.”, Adds, reaffirming the positive impact of the collective actions of the two galleries.
