Group show with five visual artists from Brasilia, exhibits sculptural pieces – in ceramic – ranging from inventive to ingenious
When talking about high temperature ceramic pieces, the image of utilities soon comes to mind., but in “Weathering – Barro, fire and art, the artists Débora Amorim, Emiliano Nunes, Isabel Se Oh, Júlia Pinheiro and Rodrigo Machado show that ceramic production can go further.
"Intemperismos – Barro, fire and art, curated by Clauder Diniz, goes on display at the Quanto Café Gallery (CLN 103, Block A), day 6 January 2023, where it remains until 15 February. Open from Monday to Sunday, always from 8am to 9pm, to exhibition has free admission and free indicative rating for all audiences.
Coined by the curator, the name of the exhibition expresses the delicacy of the material used by the artists to create their works. the clay, or clay, is made up of microparticles, result of physical weathering of rocks, deposited in river beds or ravines on the banks. highlights, yet, the burning process, when it is brought to high temperature to become ceramic, and highlights the possibility of transforming what was once grain into art.

Débora Amorim connects with the present and seeks connection with her deities to create the Masks presented in the exhibition. Already Emiliano Nunes, works organic forms to give vent to feelings and express the dream more than the real. While Rodrigo Machado surrenders to intuition and creative flow to build provocative works.
Júlia Pinheiro leaves the feminine on display in her character, the Cordelia, that carries something of projection and internal identification, without obeying standardized contours. Departing from autobiographical references or what attracts her, Isabel Se Oh expresses memories, fears and nostalgia in pieces where expressiveness takes shape.
About a ceramics exhibition in which the main role is to present artistic works to the public, distinct from the utilitarian pieces commonly seen, Isabel shares that “it is about highlighting all the plastic and expressive possibilities of this material., argila”, and Júlia adds that because it is “enriching for the artistic field that ceramics is also included in exhibitions, because it adds to work a value not usually attributed to it”.
The provocation for holding the show came from Rodrigo, although, the production took place collectively, with everyone and everyone performing tasks. For Débora “it is a joy to be able to be alongside friends and work partners in this exhibition”, point of view shared by Rodrigo.

The land that feeds us, where will we go back, offers life and art.

It is these inventive powers that five artists from Brasilia bring together in this show with sculptures and pieces ranging from the figurative to the ingenious.. They present works that express the multiple possibilities of artistic ceramics..
Some of nature's elements are brought into Isabel Se On's works, for whom water also carries the idea of healing. The artist likes the possibilities of ceramics with wood, and sculptures of body parts, the most expressive, hands and faces.
Emiliano Nunes makes organic shapes with ceramics and glass that resemble geodes, an untouched nature, a rock with time crystallized inside it. For him, to manipulate clay is to produce something enchanted, with a lot of soul.
Debora Amorim connects spiritually with the earth and fire. His work is the result of this feeling of belonging to the planet, from contact with the earth, deal with the flames, with heat and chance. Their masks are a reference to the sacred.
Julia Pinheiro leaves the feminine on display, deposits a bit of anxiety in the works, of the anguish, and is not afraid of body shapes that do not conform to the standard. Art is a shield for your most intimate questions. He recognizes in his Cordelias the result of a mystery, that starts with the first contact with clay, that seems to want to dominate the artist, but which results in sculptures products of time, by chance, but with a lot of technique and creativity.
Rodrigo Machado sees no limits to creativity, since I provoked, that seems to hurt, or upset your stomach. Your work experiences forms, dare in appearance, surprised by the result. They are beings from the sea of imagination.
as a whole, we perceive the “artistic weathering” that, just like in nature, put together small elements, in a harmonic motion, to transform what was once grain into sculpture.
