The Correios Cultural Center presents the exhibition “Where was she looking when everything went dark” with artists Corina Ishikura and Jussara Marangoni. The exhibition presents a set of works that, when they focus on studies on space and the sometimes literal connections, enable the occupation and inhabitation of this country-continent that is Brazil. From 16 from June to 30 of July curated by Paulo Gallina.
There's a double of the world. One that every human being carries within. in your guts. In the sockets of your eyes. In your mind. a double of the world: ordered by the heart and engraved in our brains.
The show "for where was she looking when everything went dark”, with Paulo Gallina as the curator of the project, speculates and presents these anomalous spaces that do not obey the imperative and objective laws of physics.
As is typical of the restlessness of artists, the search of both, at a certain point, steps aside and observes the material reality of the world from a bias, searching, Maybe, of what physics and optics are unable to reveal: maybe in search of a point of confluence, where humanity integrates and inserts itself in nature, instead of opposing it in the form of culture.
Here, in this exhibition space so full of affection, there is no separation between nature and culture, between human and inhuman, between wild and civilized, because here there is only what affects and what is affected, flowing like a river. River, whose waters always pass by so that it will always be the same; as well as ideas that always flow so that provocations, about what ultimately makes us human, always take us further, into a certain idea of landscape and nature, never farther.
“My production talks about existing through the connection between all bodies and elements that make up the universe. It speaks of an interdependent existence impregnated with vibrations, mutations that refer to a large biological neural network, where everyone interacts with their neighbors, how neurons communicate with each other, at points of contact called synapses.” Corina Ishikura

about the artists:
Corina Ishikura (1964) SP. She is an artist and researcher.. Graduated in Letters from Mackenzie University, studied philosophy, Art History, History of Japanese Art at MAM-SP, FAAP SP, Capes USP SP. She is a special student of the MAC USP Master's course. Among the artistic and cultural residencies, participated by the Mokiti Okada Foundation, in the cities of Kyoto, Atami and Hakone in Japan (2017) and Case Art Residence, São Sebastião SP (2019). Jussara Marangoni (1960)
He was born in sao paulo, lives and works in Araçatuba. Graduated in Arts at FAAP and completed a Masters in Design at UNESP. is an art teacher, having collaborated with universities such as Mackenzie, FAAP, Saint Marceline, Fine Art, PUCSP and workshops at SESC. He was assistant to artist Nelson Leirner for thirteen years, before moving to the interior of the state. Participated in artistic residencies, individual and group exhibitions in independent spaces, museums, galleries and cultural centers standing out: 19the. About the curator:
Paul Gallina, critic-curator accompanying the project. Independent art critic and curator, Paulo Gallina has a degree in History from the University of São Paulo.
Paulo (USP). He participated in the Criticism and Curatorship Study Group at ECA-USP guided by Professor Domingos Tadeu Chiarelli (2009-2012) during your training.
