CCBB Rio performs "viradão" the exhibition Picasso and the Spanish Modernity

Between the days 5 and 6 September, last weekend of the season, to
shows will remain open for 36 extended hours.

The Centro Cultural Banco do Brazil (CCBBs Rio) will promote a "viradão" on the last weekend of the season Picasso and the Spanish modernity | Works from the collection of the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía. The exhibition is on until 7 September (Monday), but the Saturday before (6) will open the doors to 9:0 and will receive visitors by 36 consecutive hours, until the Sunday 9:0 pm (7), with free entry. Who wants to spend the night at the scene, will the project option Dawn in the Center with the party and Arrhythmia presentations of singer Rita Benneditto and DJ Marcelinho da Lua, in a live especially with the musicians Fred Ferreira and Lancaster Lee, at popular prices.

In less than two months, Picasso and the Spanish modernity has already received more than 400 thousand visitors. “Other than the default of previous shows, the queues were concentrated at the beginning and end of the exposure period, This time we have a constant and growing audience each week”, celebrates Marcelo Mendonça, General Manager of the CCBB.

The show has 90 works from the collection of the Reina Sofía to, based in Madrid, brings together a significant collection of 20TH century art. Curated by Eugenio Carmona, Professor of art history at the University of Malaga and renowned expert on the theme, the exhibition offers the Brazilian audience different approaches on contributions from the founder of Cubism and his contemporaries to the international art scene. The show highlights the way Picasso designed the modernity and as influenced or related with the main creators of the time, showing also the dialogues, the interrelationships and the challenges that settled between the own Picasso and Juan Gris, Miró, Dalí, Julio González, Óscar Domínguez and the set of Spanish masters of modern art.

The result of a partnership between the Mapfre Foundation and the Centro Cultural Banco do Brazil (institutions responsible for Impressionism: Paris and modernity, the third most visited exhibition in the world 2013), the show has the support of the Ministry of culture, through the law of incentive to the culture – Rouanet law, and sponsorship of Brazil's Bank and insurance group Mapfre and the Bank of Brazil, companies that have been developing a comprehensive job of promotion of culture. The coordination and organization of Picasso and the Spanish modernity are the responsibility of the Expomus, Brazilian company which has been operating for more than 30 years in the cultural market.
