The Ancestral Multiple – Xavante Culture brings indigenous filmmaker Divino Tserewahú to talk about the Xavante people, through image records, sounds and memories of your village life.

In face-to-face and remote activities, the mediated visits to the new exhibition "Nise da Silveira: The Revolution for Affection”, on display at CCBB-Rio are until the day 15 August at CCBB-Rio. The show marks the 22 years since the death of psychiatrist Nise da Silveira (1905-1999), one of the greatest scientists in Brazil, internationally recognized.

The program CCBB Educativo - Art & Education develops actions that stimulate the experience, creating, research and reflection through pedagogical processes, artistic and curatorial. The CCBB Educativo of Rio de Janeiro offers mediated visits to the exhibitions on display: 1981/2021: Brazilian contemporary art in the Andrea and José Olympio collection Pear, until day 26 July and “Nise da Silveira: The Revolution for Affection", until day 15 August 2021.

The show 1981/2021: Brazilian contemporary art in the Andrea and José Olympio collection Pear presents a look at the contemporary Brazilian artistic panorama between 1980 and 2021, addressing the importance of collecting in Brazil. The exhibition brings together 68 artists and a collection with 119 works of art by important artists, from different generations, covering a period of 40 years of the artistic movement in the country. The works enable numerous reflections on the production of contemporary art and its connection to life and everyday life. In conversations between the educators of the educational program and the visiting public, themes related to landscape and nature will be investigated in the works of the exhibition, its various forms of representation, translation and possible meanings. The exhibition Nise da Silveira – The Revolution for Affection will occupy three rooms at the Banco do Brasil Cultural Center Rio de Janeiro from the day 9 of June, gathering about of 90 works by clients of the Museum of Images of the Unconscious, beside pieces of Lygia Clark and Joe Carlos Garcia, photographs of Alice Brill, Rogério Reis and Rafael bqueer, videos of Leon Hirzsman and Tiago Sant’Ana and watercolors and photos of Carlos Vergara. It is curated by the M’Baraká Studio, with consultancy by psychiatrist Vitor Pordeus and museologist Eurípedes Júnior. in the three rooms, the public will walk through the precursors of art therapy as opposed to the treatments of the time, the issue of affection, then you will see the arrival of Nise from Alagoas in Rio de Janeiro, the passage through prison, the women he lived with, among them the samba dancer Dona Ivone Lara, even do a dive into the unconscious, also exploring the territorial issue of the inner craft as a space of exclusion and metaphor of inner craft versus outer craft.

This year are completed 22 years since Nise da Silveira's death – and 22 is a number associated with madness in the popular imagination, theme approached in a revolutionary way by the psychiatrist Nise da Silveira (1905-1999). In this visit “CCBB and the City: Banco do Brasil Cultural Center and the city of Rio de Janeiro”The public follows a course that will allow them to learn about the history of CCBB Rio de Janeiro, exploring aspects of its architecture, in dialogue with its territory and the elements that integrate its spaces, which constitute an important heritage of arts and culture in the country. All the Saturdays, to 15 hours, CCBB-Rio offers the artistic workshops of the PLACE OF CREATION. These are experiences for all audiences with artistic activities of creation and cultural mediation that encourage interaction and dialogue with the arts and current topics. the indigenous filmmaker Divino Tserewahú introduce us in this multiple Ancestral a little of the culture of the Xavante people, through image records, sounds and memories of your village life.

Divino Tserewahú started to learn about cinema in 1990, when the Xavante community of Sangradouro received its first film camera (VHS), donated by the Indigenous Work Center (CTI) of São Paulo. His first professional experience in the area was as part of the Indigenous Program team, TV series held at the Federal University of Mato Grosso between 1995 and 1996. In 1997, Divino participated in the first meeting and training workshop for indigenous filmmakers in Brazil, organized by Vídeo nas Aldeias and held at the Xingu Indigenous Park. now enter 2001 and 2002, through the Video in the Villages, he got a place to study at the San Antonio de Los Baños International Film School, in Cuba, where he trained in editing techniques, documentary and fiction script, animation, among others. Divino's first film is “Wapté Mnhõnõ: the initiation of the young Xavante" (1999) and register the Wapté, Xavante youth initiation ritual that marks the passage from adolescence to adulthood. To follow, he performed “Wai’a Rini: the power of the dream" (2001), which also records an initiation ritual, of Wai’a Rini. Já “Pi’õnhitsi: Xavante women without a name" (2009) tells the sad story of successive unsuccessful attempts to carry out the naming ritual of Xavante women. Finally, the historical film “Tsõ’rehipãri: Sangradouro” (2009) it deals with the contact between the Xavante and the Salesian Mission and shows the concerns of the old Xavante in relation to the young people who, according to them, no longer interested in traditional dances and songs. When visiting the permanent exhibition of the Banco do Brasil Museum at CCBB Brasília, Yana Tamayo invites the public to look at the collection as a way to make a journey through the narratives that helped to create a certain idea of ​​modern Brazil. From this path through artists and iconic works of Brazilian Modernism, it proposes a reflection on the nation and the project idea represented in the past, how could they have crossed our ideas of the present and our imaginations about the future.

Yana Tamayo is visual artist, Curator, researcher and educator. Born in the São Paulo neighborhood of Mooca, Vera Lucia Dias is a tourismologist and guide in the city of São Paulo.
