I had the pleasure of meeting the family Saidenberg, in one of the first international exhibitions I visited. Was in 2013 no “I Salon d'Automne of Latin America” that happened in the Gallery of the "Alliance Française" in Sao Paulo.
At the time I was delighted with the work of Carolina, your colors, the smoothness of her features and the theme dealt with, all this reflecting your personality and your sympathy, as well as their parents.
Since then I have followed his brilliant trajectory, as well as that of Luiz, with his paintings and sculptures.
Watch the interview with these bright artists, at a time when father and daughter are exhibiting some of his works on display that's going on in "Military circle of São Paulo”.
Carolina Saidenberg
Where did you born? And what is your academic training?
São Paulo capital, Bachelor of Arts degree in fine arts from SP.
How and when you give your first contact with the Arts?
Since I design 2 years old, encouraged by my parents that don't have suppressed the drawings by the freshly-painted walls and gave me drawing and painting materials.
How did you find this gift?
It was natural in me. It was very child, I don't even remember, all I know is that my children's designs were much more advanced than that of other kids my age and ever since I was little I used to draw and have other children and adults watching me.
What are your main influences?
My father, who is an artist and Illustrator was my first art reference. I grew up in a family that enjoys culture and exhibitions, had fascination in my childhood and adolescence in Greco-Roman mythology and reading Japanese culture. Later on, in College, I was influenced by the French Impressionists and other artists such as Klimt, Van Gogh, Toulouse Lautrec, Gaugin.
What materials do you use in your works?
I usually work mixed technique. But most of my paintings are done in oil or acrylic. I usually use pigments, graphite and gilding also.
What is your creative process itself? What inspires you?
It takes me a bit to inspire me, I usually look for a long time images of painters, movies, listen to music, that's what gives me fuel to start. Like to take black and white photos of the city and urban landscapes, view circus artists, old photos etc. I am introspective thoughts and ideas for some period. I usually paint several works at the same time, While I'm watching a painting other. I take a lot of time reflecting on what I'm doing, What I intend to do… Inspired with decaying cityscapes, of old buildings, and contrasts of old and new. The human figure moves me, I like surreal situations of dream. The human body in motion. The look.
When you started effectively to produce or create your works?
Well, I've always been one way or another linked to the arts, I began to study painting with oil 11 years and I've always been doing and free technical courses, until College where I devoted also to sculpture and photography beyond painting. But I just followed a career in design and advertising for many years. In 2011 I solved it should resume my origins, and it was at this time that my style developed when I moved in and studying design in Italy, and experience the art of integral form. In this period I found myself and that's what I've done exclusively since then.
Art is an intellectual production exquisite, where emotions are embedded in the context of creation, but in art history, we see that many artists are derived from other, following technical and artistic movements through time, you own any model or influence of any artist? Who would be?
A mixture of influences I believe… I really like drawing style of Toulouse Lautrec and surreal symbolic techniques by Odilon Redon.
What does art mean to you? If you were to summarize in a few words the meaning of the Arts in your life…
