Bulgari brings its Serpenti collaboration with Refik Anadol to the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum

To kick off Serpenti's 75th anniversary, Bulgari embarks on a new chapter with award-winning media artist and director Refik Anadol

After the success of the exhibition in Piazza del Duomo in Milan in 2021, and Saatchi Gallery in London last November, it's Madrid's turn to present the Serpenti exhibition at the prestigious Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum.

From 17 of February to 16 April, Bulgari and Refik Anadol will take visitors on an immersive experience, with Anadol's artwork interpreting the brand's most emblematic icon and opening the exhibition Bulgarian Serpents: 75 years of endless tales.

Bulgari Serpenti first appeared in 1948 in the form of elegant bracelet watches made with the famous Tubogas technique that became an instant success.

Unique AI art developed by Refik Anadol will take visitors on an immersive journey, taking them through the infinite complexities of an ever-changing snake, showing its continued rebirth and evolution.

Machine learning algorithms trained on more than 200 millions of images of nature result in the visualization of an alternate reality of nature that mimics its textures, remembering the evolution of the snake: a new vision of the meaning of Metamorphosis. For a multisensory journey, a fragrance developed by artificial intelligence called Rainforest Serpenti will permeate the immersive room.

Under the name of Bulgarian Serpents: 75 years of endless tales, an exhibition featuring a curated selection of Serpenti creations of historic jewelry and timepieces dating back to the 1990s 1940 to the present day, as well as the Maison's historical archives will also be accessible in the museum's Rodin room.

The space will invite visitors on a journey, based on the image of the snake in Bulgari jewelry to find out how deeply this ancient motif, a powerful metaphor of transformation, continues to evolve and inspire the Maison's never-ending creativity.

For the occasion, an exclusive Serpenti Alta Joalheria necklace with matching earrings will be unveiled, created exclusively for the birthday. nominated Serpenti Blue Heavens due to the heavenly colors of its tanzanite and aquamarine layout, evoking the Roman and Spanish skies, the creation metaphorically displays an embrace between the two countries.

With two dazzling snakes masterfully intertwined, the legend of Serpenti is portrayed through Bulgari's visionary craftsmanship and gemstone artistry in a new tale of wonders.

From the most stylized models of the early days, animal variants with polychrome enamels and precious eyes, to the cool graphic charm of the Viper collection, Serpenti will tell the story of a multifaceted sign that always knew how to be in sync with fashion and social trends of female emancipation.. The exhibition will take place at the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum, Madrid, from 17 of February to 16 April.
