Black Brazil Art opens registration for Online Residency

Initiative takes place from May to June 2023 and includes participation in the 3rd Black Brazil Biennial

Are open until 30 April 2023 the inscriptions for the Online Artistic Residency – Decolonial Critical Thinking in Artistic Practices, initiative of Black Brazil Art in partnership with Museum of Women of Costa Rica and support from the International Association of Women’s Museums.

The Online Residency Program will work with guidance to projects ready or in progress and has the objective of selecting proposals clearly identified with “decolonial practices”, for the third edition of Bienal Black, scheduled for 2024 in Rio de Janeiro. The program will allow artists to be guided through specific mentorships that can help improve their ideas from a macro perspective, transnational, beyond your sense of place, devoting time to experimentation on the topic flows (in) Flow – transience.

Artists, educators, curators, researchers, collectives, activists and other arts professionals residing in Brazil and abroad can submit their ideas and projects to be carried out in the 3ª Bienal Black Brazil. The fee has a single value of BRL 346,50. Registration can be done through the platform Sympla.

The Online Residency It happens 4 of May to 22 June 2023 and foresees eight meetings. Certification will be awarded to all participants who will be part of a audiobook. Classes will be streamed via the Zoom platform.. Will be offered as an allowance, two bags, each worth a thousand reais, to the individual or collective artist, that has an unprecedented and original proposal for the 3ª Bienal Black.

The inaugural class will be on 3 de Mayo, at 19h, via the YouTube channel of Black Brazil Art (youtube.com/@blackbrazilArt) and will be given by the teacher, researcher and curator Claudia Mandel-Katz who will talk about “Gender and Decolonial Aesthetic Practices in Latin America and the Caribbean”. Claudia will be one of the mentors in this residency alongside Patricia Brito (RS-SC), Julio Pereyra (Uruguay), Martha Kazungu (Uganda) and Priscilla Costa (SC).
