ARTE4 opens Marcelo Sobral's first solo show in Búzios

The Gallery ARTE4 is pleased to announce the opening of the exhibition “Second Impressions” by Marcelo Sobral, scheduled for the day 7 September 2024. This will be the first time that the artist will exhibit his work outside of Niterói, your city Natal.

Marcelo Sobral began his career as an illustrator and visual programmer, having a solid background in graphic production. Fluent in English and French, Sobral improved his artistic skills at renowned international institutions, inclusive of the School of Fine Arts, in Paris, France, where he studied Advertising Illustration, e na New York University, in the United States, where he delved deeper into the layout language.

His professional career included stints at companies in the areas of Marketing and Communication, but it was working alongside caricaturist Lan and artist Al Hirschfeld that Sobral found his true path in the arts. He participated in important projects, like art books “Lan's schools” and “Naïve Brazil”.

After a period away from drawing, Marcelo Sobral returned to artistic production, redefining your style. Known for its fine features, vibrant colors and unique interpretations of physiognomies, he started creating using the Procreate program, exclusive to iPads. What was initially a personal production soon attracted attention, resulting in his first solo exhibition, “Sobral’s Digital Art: First Impressions”, held at Le Briones Gallery, in Pendotiba, Niterói, from August to December 2023.

The success of this exhibition was resounding., leading “Sobral’s Digital Art” to be shown in two other cultural spaces in Niterói: no Lobby of Hotel Orizzonte (December 2023 to March 2024) and in the Cultural Corridor of Niterói City Hall (April to August 2024).

Now, with “Second Impressions”, Marcelo Sobral expands your reach, bringing his unique art to Búzios. The exhibition promises to delight the public with new works that further explore the possibilities of digital art, marking a new chapter in the artist's career.
