Solidarity action articulated by FotoRio, Villa Aymoré, Ateliê Oriente and Retrato Espaço Cultural launches on international photography day, on wednesday, 19, the PRÓ RIO PHOTOS, project that aims to financially support the social institutions Jongo da Serrinha, Redes da Maré and Solar Meninos de Luz, in addition to photographers and visual artists in financial difficulty due to the pandemic.

PRÓ RIO PHOTOS is an action articulated by Fotorio, Villa Aymoré, Oriente Studio and Portrait Cultural Space in favor of non-profit structures operating in underserved areas of Rio de Janeiro and surroundings and, also, to support photographers and visual artists in financial difficulties due to the pandemic.
The action PRÓ RIO PHOTOS, like others in São Paulo, Belo Horizonte, Porto Alegre, Ceará and Salvador, consists of inviting photographers and visual artists to give an image - to be printed in a “fine art” inkjet process within a 20x30cm format – which will be sold through the project website – www.fotosprorio.com – at the standard value of R $ 180,00. The impressions fine art will carry the seal of PRÓ RIO PHOTOS in relief and will be accompanied by a certificate of authorship. Of this value, the author may choose to donate the full amount, 50% or keep the total sale, discounted costs. The social institutions chosen to benefit are the Jongo da Serrinha, to Redes da Maré and Solar Meninos de Luz.
The authors participating in the project were chosen based on the indication of invited curators, among them Evandro Salles, Diogenes Moura, Keyna Eleison, Luiz Guilherme Vergara, Marcelo Campos, Rosely Nakagawa, Alberto Saraiva and Angela Berlinde. Curators were invited, photographers, researchers and collectors from all regions of Brazil and residents abroad. In total are more than 60 curators and more than 400 artists who joined the initiative that brought together more than 400 images ascertained with representativeness in the various types of photography, of styles and trends. The project offers a unique and attractive opportunity to acquire works by important artists such as Brazilians Rosangela Renno, Rosana Paulino, Ana Bella Geiger, Beth Jobim, Walter Carvalho, Hair, Evandro Teixeira, Walter company name, Bob Wolfenson, Marcelo Brodsky (Argentina) and Graciela Iturbide (Mexico), among many others, at an absolutely affordable price, in addition to adding to a project that will certainly make a difference at a time of such adversity that the world is going through.

In addition to the artists already established in the art market, the project also brought together works by rising artists or from geographical and artistic peripheries, such as Ratão Diniz, of Complexo da Maré, Betinho Casanova, Favela do Alemão and Nay Jinksnss, young photographer from Belém do Pará.
It was up to each curator to indicate five authors - photographers or visual artists who express themselves through photography. – and decide with each one the image that will be made available. Curators also collaborate with an image of their own. The selected images will be displayed on the campaign's official website, to be launched in on wednesday, 19 August, international photography day, and remains active until 19 October 2020.
