The Ouro Preto Orchestra Academy opens public notice for young musicians, aged 18 and 28 years, develop their talents through orchestral practice. Registration is open until the day 28 January and offer four vacancies for violin and two for cello. Those selected will receive a monthly scholarship in the amount of R$ 1.000,00, between February and December 2023.
Based on artistic experience, Academia Orquestra Ouro Preto is a program that aims to give young talents the opportunity to experience orchestral practice within a recognized institution. In addition to musical technical development, Fellows still have practical opportunities in concerts with the presence of the public, in addition to the possibility of participating in projects developed by Orquestra Ouro Preto throughout the year. So, attending the Academy is a unique experience, generating enriching experiences with musicians and teachers of recognized excellence.
In addition to weekly rehearsals in Belo Horizonte, Scholars learn from, Maybe, the best of teachers, The stage. between recordings, concerts and classes, students absorb, directly from the source, rich lessons with the orchestra's section leaders, o Maestro Rodrigo Toffolo e, and often, brazilian music icons, who are eventually invited to projects. Currently, 8 ex-students are protagonists of the main formation and went through this preparatory phase within the Academy before officially joining the musical body.
At the age of 24 years, Glaikson Nogueira, former student of the Academy and the newest member of the Ouro Preto Orchestra in the violin section, emphasizes the care taken by Minas Gerais training in the training of scholarship holders and the professional opportunity that opens up in the concert music market. “One of the things that most impacted me as a student was the commitment that the Orchestra has with all projects, the organization, the teachers are always very competent, the affection and care for each of the students in big and small details”, counts the violinist.
“I see the Academy as a great opportunity, a showcase where the best for the market is presented. There all the students are being seen, have their names commented by people already very well established in this universe. With the knowledge and visibility that one has in the academy, it is possible to achieve great goals”, guarantees the musician.

Always challenging himself and seeking to promote new experiences for fellows in his training project, the Ouro Preto Orchestra innovates once again by proposing, still for this year, the recording of the first Academy album, bringing to this period of learning also the experience in the studio. “The great challenge this year will be the recording of the Academy's first CD. The experience of spending days in a studio recording and looking for perfection in each take brings technical and musical growth of extreme importance in the career”, says Rodolfo Toffolo, academy coordinator.
