About Living Nature
In its endless process of reading and researching, Lucia Adverse started a vast biographical collection on female artists, that since the century. XVII have been living intensely, playful and strong. The artist then decided that one way or another, would pay tribute to these women artists, transforming the main characteristics of each, in plastic expressions found in nature and observed through his photographic vision.
Lucia went on to map each of these female biographies and identify them as plants., Trees, forests, as if he wanted to take human expressions from nature or without knowing, merge human lives into processes that in one way or another, are biochemically explainable.
“This mixture of observations and studies, came to define the relationship between forms and facts, defying the artist's feelings, who created a veritable forest of female portraits, in metaphors and symbols, entitling them to Live nature; however, they seem to me to be fragments of a self-portrait by the artist herself, but that in the ebb and flow of co-incidence, leads us to reflect the nature-image of each of the characters, in ourselves” explains gallery owner and curator Ricardo Fernandes.
“For a long time, the so-called fairer sex was expected to be delicacy, freshness and beauty, hence the commonplace comparison with flowers. Lucia offers, on the contrary, an entire tree for each of these women whose lives he finds remarkable. Instead of highlighting its fruits and leaves, value, in your images, twisted trunks, cracked shells, dry twigs, cracks and lichens, bringing them closer to the power of these characters” completes Camila Schenkel, art criticism.
