IED PRESENTS THE NEW POSTGRADUATE COURSE – art criticism

Artistic representations offer us elements that facilitate the understanding of history in each period of our existence.. For those who want to develop a new look, IED presents its new course in Graduate.
Faced with recent facts about attacks against works of art, the European Institute of Design (IED) reinforces the importance of the look and recognition of art, your way of interpreting feelings, ideas, actions and manifestations of man.
Criticism has a great weight on the processes of interpretation of works of art, both from the perspective of semiotics and history, Culture, politics and philosophy. the work of art, as a process and product of a specific language – the artistic, is inserted in the circle of canonical and social reflections of art, as well as in the consumer market, being dependent on these mechanisms, that are interrelated.
The Art Criticism course is also focused on the investigation of styles, as well as the relationship between art studies and other languages and fields of knowledge linked to the spheres of sociology and design. Understanding the importance of criticism within the art market is the first step towards obtaining a broader education in this area., for anyone who wants to work as a critic(to) art or related fields.
*The Art Criticism course is part of the Postgraduate Course in Criticism, Curatorship and Art Market, divided into three modules: Art Criticism, Art Curatorship and Art Market. Upon completing all three and meeting the academic criteria, the(to) student(to) also receives the postgraduate certificate.
Methodology and structure: The study starts from a problem that affects the student within the field of art criticism. Throughout the course, he will obtain understandings that enable the construction of answers to solve it. The methodology translates course objectives, values and develops autonomy, students' creativity and strategic vision, as well as their training path, proposing learning adequacy opportunities with expert tutoring.
IED believes in complete professional training, therefore the management of to know, know how to do and know how to be born from the union between cognitive intelligence (theory), creative intelligence (practice) and emotional intelligence (human dimension).

Subjects: The Art Criticism course addresses theory and practice of art history in a dynamic perspective that values dialogue with contemporaneity and a critical perspective on the diversity of cultural heritage. The themes will address the production of critical discourse in the arts, relations between criticism and different contexts, concepts and attitudes, problematization, idealization, routes, investigation, authorship and the multisemioticity of the arts.

- Integrated Project 3 – The Production of Critical Discourse in the Arts (3h)
The formation of classes and the start of courses depend on a minimum quorum (at the discretion of the faculty), to ensure the best experience everyone the participants. IED reserves the right to change the faculty according to personal or institutional needs, not compromising the quality of the course.
