8Edition of the Faculty highlights the black feminism and celebrates the spoken poetry

Accomplished for the first time in Rio Art Museum - SEA, in Port Area, literary festival honors the poet Solano Trindade Pernambuco

Symbol of African heritage in Rio de Janeiro, the city's port area receives the 8th edition of the Literary Festival of the Peripheries (FLUP). From 16 to 20 October, the festival arrives in Rio Art Museum - SEA, strategic partner of the Faculty, and sheds light on the black feminism and spoken poetry, two movements that reshaped the cultural production of the country in this century. The tables open to the public will feature big names in literature and global movements, como Funmilola Smartkcandy (one of the creators of Black Lives Matter) and France's Audrey Pulvar, one of the major references on the topic of the moment: environmental conflicts.

Black women are featured in the 8th edition of Faculty

The program has resulted in the publication of 20 books with authors of Rio's suburbs as Ana Paula Lisboa, Yasmin Thayná and Geovani Martins phenomenon, young resident of Rocinha who had the debut book published in more than 10 countries. Part of the activities of the Faculty Think, the Narratives Black Lab, a partnership with TV Globo, expanded this year to its area of ​​operation and had no less than 11 of the 34 participants from states São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Bahia and Rio Grande do Sul.

Over 120 thousand people and 700 national and international authors have participated in the activities of the Literary Festival of Peripheries from 2011, year of its first edition. Before reaching the central part of Rio, in the region of "Little Africa", which encompasses neighborhoods like Gamboa and Health, the festival was held in Rio de Janeiro communities like Morro dos Prazeres, Vicar General, Hose, Babylon and Vidigal - areas traditionally excluded from literary programs.
