2ª Bienal Black Brazil Art opens registration

Event runs from January to March 2022 in online format

Are open until the day 30 from october at artwork inscriptions for the 2ª Bienal Black Brazil Art (2BiennialBlack). With the theme Cartography and Hybridism of the Female Body: Visual and Affective Representation, the event seeks creations by individual and collective contemporary artists, unpublished or recent, that approach narratives with excerpts from the proposed universe. Information on the website blackbrazilart.com.br/.

Brazilian and foreign artists residing in Brazil for over five years can present their work, research or curatorial projects. Each participant, individual or collective, may submit up to two works in up to two categories that will compete for the prizes provided for in the regulation. Registration fees vary from R$ 45,00 for individual artist and R$ 85,00 to collective.

All categories are accepted (painting, sculpture, photography, installation, textile, videoart, etc..), although, digital works are recommended. The selected works will compose the 2ª Bienal Black Brazil Art, and will be exhibited in a virtual gallery of interaction with visitors. Artists selected in the category performance that is not video performance, should perform live on the Zoom platform.

“The Black Brazil Art strongly believes that the art world should be supported, encouraged and connected beyond the limits of geographic barriers”, explains the executive producer Patricia Brito. “This second edition encourages us to think about a more cohesive world, shareable and where women have rights and opportunities similar to men”, concludes.

In online format, to 2BiennialBlack will connect artists from different parts of the world and has a body of judges from Brazil and abroad. Also participate in this edition, guest artists from Brazil and abroad.

About the Black Brazil Art Biennial

held in November 2019 to March 2020, themed Women (in) visible – the biennial toured the three capitals of southern Brazil in 12 art spaces, with the purpose of giving visibility to anonymous women, mainly black women in galleries and museums.. Altogether, more than 320 works of more than 160 artists. In 2020 promoted the online cycle art without borders.

About Patricia Brito

Independent curator, museóloga, researcher and cultural manager, Patricia Brito was the creator and general curator of the first Bienal Black Brazil Art and coordinated the preparatory art without borders (Bienal Black) and the Virtual Artistic Residency Shared with UDELAR's Colectivo de Estudios Afrolatinoamericano. Born in Porto Alegre (RS), has several national and international awards – among them the Ford Foundation Art Residence Equity and the Baobá Prize – all with the language of racial profiling in the arts. Graduated in history and museology, is a member of the Association of Art Museum Curators (AAMC) in New York City.
