With more than 70 works, the shows, now, will feature the participation of artists PV Dias, Sabrina Savani and Silvana Mendes who give a contemporary look to the exhibition that already displayed engravings by Carybé, Cícero Dias and Glauco Rodrigues.

The event continues the mutual cooperation partnership established between Sesc RJ and PGE-RJ for the development of cultural and educational activities accessible to the public free of charge..

News from Brazil presents a popular Brazil, through images that record the daily lives of its inhabitants in everyday street scenes, squares, religious festivities and informal celebrations contributing to an image construction of a country that reflects on its origins and ethnic and cultural plurality.

In the set of works, says curator Marcelo Campos, it is possible to perceive a Brazil with a strong popular tradition, at parties, in interethnic relations, at the board sellers, on the windows and balconies of colonial townhouses. “The main gain of the exhibition in this redesign is the meeting of great artists who talk about their cities, based on what people say in everyday life”, explains.

They are artists from different regions of Brazil: Belém do Pará, São Paulo and São Luís do Maranhão.

The redesign of the exhibition reflects the contemporary movement in the arts to revisit so-called “official” history through inclusive perspectives and historical reparation.

Thus, the exhibition aims to present the colors of a popular Brazil, reporting it without relegating any type of participation in its construction.
