On 21 May there will be a concert with the Experimental Repertoire Orchestra and theStar of the Third Millennium samba school, access group champion 1 of the São Paulo Carnival 2022
São Paulo, 16 May 2022 – The Municipal Theater of São Paulo, committed to expanding and promoting access to its programming, perform the Municipal Circle in different cultural spaces on the outskirts of the city. The program includes performances by the Municipal Symphony Orchestra., Experimental Repertory Orchestra, São Paulo City Ballet, Lyrical Chorale, São Paulo Choir, String Quartet of the City of São Paulo and Special Guests in addition to Screenings of the animated film Pedro e o Lobo, with Giramundo Teatro de Bonecos and Experimental Repertoire Orchestra and meetings to exchange experiences between artistic bodies and local artists.
“In order to promote access to the Municipal Theater’s artistic creations to the periphery of, the project Municipal Circle, promotes the circulation of the Artistic Bodies of the Municipal Theater in various regions of the city. With free performances running until November, the program also includes screenings of the animated short film Peter and the Wolf in several institutions in different neighborhoods of São Paulo and exchange actions between local artists and Theater artists”, Andrea Caruso Saturnino counts, director general of the Municipal Theater of São Paulo.
On 21, to Experimental Repertory Orchestra performs at the Grajaú Cultural Center, at 4:00 pm, with special participation of the samba school Star of the Third Millennium. Conducted by Maestro Jamil Maluf, the repertoire includes the Bachianas Brasileiras n.4, by Heitor Villa-Lobos, Sinfonia Popular n.1, Radames Gnatalli, Brazilian Series V, by Alberto Nepomuceno, Northeastern Suite, by Duda do Recife, among others. The Star of the Third Millennium, Grajaú neighborhood samba school, recently won the spot in the access group 1 of the Carnival of São Paulo conquering the unprecedented title of the access group.
“The Experimental Repertoire Orchestra begins its participation in the Municipal Circula project, with a concert at the Grajaú Cultural Center. For this opportunity, we chose a program with seven works by Brazilian composers from different periods and styles.. The concert begins with a tribute to the city of São Paulo, with the delicious Sao Paulo opening, São Paulo, of the Prime Minister, with orchestration by Nelson Aires and ends with the Brazilian watercolor, of Ary Barroso, along with the drums of the Third Millennium Samba School. The visit of our Orchestra, Artistic Corps of the Municipal Theater, to the community of Grajaú, has the symbolic value of providing the meeting of artists from the Municipal Theater with the public from the outskirts of São Paulo, to interest these people in a future visit to the theater, expanding the range of action of this show house”, highlights Jamil Maluf, conductor of the Experimental Repertoire Orchestra.
Throughout the year, as part of the Theater's audience training program, animation film screenings will be held Peter and the Wolf, with Giramundo Puppet Theater and Experimental Repertoire Orchestra, in institutions, NGOs, CEUs, CCAs and collectives that primarily serve children and youth in different regions of the city of São Paulo.
