The House of the Bandeirante - City Museum, equipment Municipal Culture Bureau, receives the temporary installation "The logic of place", Gustavo Rezende, from Saturday, day 06 April. The three dimensional structure of 40 meters length model, made of granite stones, through the historic house, showing its vernacular aspects and also its use.
With the implementation of wall 1, 2 M high, and about 70 tons, Gustavo Rezende associates architecture, space and history, holding its largest outdoor installation to date. The installation, advancing 16 meters beyond the length of the house, highlights several layers of meanings and procedures relating to the construction and use thereof, emphasizing the social and aesthetic relations that permeate the space, second Rezende.
"This bridge between the building built between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries and contemporary art offers a new reading for this historic site, renewing its importance as the reconnects with our reality. The house incorporates the work and creates a new place ", declares the artist.
With the installation, the public who attends the Bandeirante House does not access inside, and it is precisely this impediment that makes you pay attention to the use of architecture as a work, who now works as urban intervention, proposing a discussion on art, architecture and place, and the implications across disciplines.
Gustavo Rezende (1960) lives and works in São Paulo. He graduated in architecture from the Faculty of Fine Arts of São Paulo, a master's degree at Goldsmith's College (London), and a PhD in Visual Poetics at ECA-USP. From the years 1980, is exhibiting works in solo and group shows in important institutions museum. private and public collections retain several of his works, highlighting the MAM-SP's collection, MAC-USP, Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo and MAM-RJ. Currently, teaches at the School of Visual Arts and Architecture at FAAP.
