Group of ceramic entrepreneurs creates monthly fair in Brasília and boosts their sales
Collaborative movement with the participation of about 20 workshops, mostly run by women, he created the Itinerant Authorial Ceramics Fair. Event that has been taking place since last December.
The success achieved in the first edition, with extensive press coverage, a good crowd movement, from the beginning to the end of the fair, and the large volume of sales, motivated the group to repeat every month.
The Fair takes place in cafes in the city and its next edition, to of number 6, will be on 16 July, Saturday, on Castália Sul (CLS 304), with the participation of 17 workshops.
The choice to take place in cafes arose from the desire to offer the fair's customers an option of food and to attract the public of the establishments.. The decision proved successful in attracting new customers to both the store and the entrepreneurs..
In an edition made for Mother's Day, at Bambu Brasil Café e Bistro the owner, Sérgio Sartorius, shared that it was the best billing day for the establishment. Something similar happened in the first edition, promoted on the eve of Christmas 2021 in how much coffee. The partner, Lina dos Santos, was immensely grateful for the event, for having conquered a new clientele and increased its sales.
As for what happened at Cafeteria Pató, in March of this year, the store manager, Poxete, referred to the initiative as very well organized and said that it was highly praised by the cafeteria patrons.. “It works like a win-win and everyone leaves happy., we sell well and the establishment wins over new customers and increases its revenue”, comments Rodrigo Machado (48), ceramist and fair press officer.
It all started very naturally., “We identified an increase in the number of ceramic ateliers in Brasília, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, but we lacked a place to exhibit our pieces and sell them”, remembers Débora Amorim (48), also a ceramist and one of the organizers, responsible for the fair's finances.
The investment of exhibitors to participate in the Fair is extremely low, “Each of us contributes the amount of R$ 80,00, per edition to cover press and social media services, plus R$ 23,00, as soon as you join the group, that are in our box for eventual expenses”, details Deborah.
Each and every one is responsible for transporting their parts, bring your own table and choose the place where you will set it up and decorate it, in addition to receiving customers and making their sales. “Speaking like that, it seems that the thing is a little loose, but it is precisely because it happens in this way that it becomes natural, a special color and those who attend feel in a relaxed and friendly environment”, says Felipe Laraia (35), potter and, also, one of the organizers.
Barbara Angelina (32), one of the youngest of the group, is responsible for managing the Instagram account, comments that the engagement on the network is surprising, “I believe that due to the quality of the work, of each artist, as well as the variety presented”, says, and finish off, “each and every one has its identity whether in design or style, in the production technique used, in the choice of color palette or if it presents something more sculptural or utilitarian”.
The Fair already has a captive audience, that goes to all or almost all editions, “but there are always new people interested in getting to know our work and no one leaves empty-handed”, celebrates Barbara.
The average ticket per customer is BRL 200,00 and the sales of each potter can reach R$ 5.000,00 by edition of the fair. The event is promoted through a press office., sending messages via whatsapp, posts on the fair's official Instagram (www.instagram.com/feiradeceramicaautoral), as well as in the profiles of those who participate and the Café when hosting the event.
Despite having created an organizing committee, nothing is decided solely by the four and all suggestions, of each member of the group, are welcome, as date, local, time and, sometimes, the theme. The most recent was 'Junina' and whoever acquired a piece, of any value, got a dose of hot.
In each edition of the Itinerant Author Ceramics Fair,, on average, around 13 workshops. “More than an opportunity to present our production and sell it, the fair serves as our meeting point when we exchange experiences, tips and share new techniques we learned”, adds Felipe Laraia.
